I know I am going to be in the minority here but I get her.

In her circumstances I could see myself wanting to do some of the things she did (not all) I realise that you are hurting yourself more than anyone else but I can understand her.

Anyone else?

No, Lillie, I really don't feel sympathy any more for any one of them, nary a fleeting pang. As far as I'm concerned they can all end up in a gory pile of corpses at the end, like the cast of Hamlet.

Though I suppose I can't deny that that made great drama. grin

A lot of people in the NHS are sick tormented characters but they still manage to do a days work. Yes I was surprised by the few bags in the car. My DGC spend the day with me and the back of the car is full!
Thought it was boring, she just seemed to spend the day getting in and out of the car. And in real life she would have been given a parking ticket.

Well at least I feel that my life did not descend into such bitterness, its fiction and there to entertain, not everyone's cup of tea I agree. I want them to wake up and see what they are doing to their son so at least I'm engaging with it seemingly. Don't want a Mills and Boone story.

She didn't put the house on the market, Day6; the sign said For Rent so she would only need to remove their clothes and personal bits. Surprised she didn't have the lad's bike on the roof, but I suppose she can afford to buy him a new one when they get where they are going.

NotTooOld Wed 20-Sept-17 18:19:00

I think it would have been more realistic to have the car boot stuffed with bags and the lad's bike on the roof. And would it be easy for a GP who had walked out on one job to get another? Oh yes, I forgot, we are very short of GPs so I expect it would.

I already mentioned on another thread that I didn't like the new series. I agree totally with you Day6. Having lived through marriage and divorce to a serial adulterer I can't believe anyone could/would act in that way.

Day6 Wed 20-Sept-17 20:56:03

Cherry, the sign outside the Dr's house WAS a 'For Sale' one. If you remember, her neighbours over the road decided to rent theirs. It was the neighbours house with the '"For Rent" board. I noticed both signs as she and her son drove off.

(Sorry for being pedantic! blush )

merlotgran Wed 20-Sept-17 21:44:37

Well I'm confused. You see her driving off with her son. They drive for a while then you see her passing the sign to Parminster where they lived. Surely that means she was returning home?

Maybe I've just lost the plot. confused

Anniepops Thu 21-Sept-17 08:05:18

She's going to rent the neighbours house..........?.......!!!!!!!

travelsafar Thu 21-Sept-17 08:49:42

What about the school teacher involved with her, with all the issues the poor boy is having at the moment i would think the teacher would want to steer very clear of the whole family!!!

NotTooOld Thu 21-Sept-17 09:17:00

I wondered about the school teacher, too. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't want to get involved with the mother of a pupil - we are getting on to Liar territory here! I agree about the For Sale sign. It can take a few days for a sign to go up, you have to have a valuation first and then the photos get taken, house details produced and so on. However, I suppose we must allow artistic licence in the case of a TV drama.

Why does my post come up pink? I haven't been on here for a while but I'm not new.

maryeliza54 Thu 21-Sept-17 09:21:41

It comes up pink to highlight the fact it's your post

maryeliza54 Thu 21-Sept-17 09:27:01

I was so intrigued by merlot's post that I did the following blush I replayed the bit of her driving away, I pressed pause when the sign came into view, I couldn't"t read it properly so I took a screen shot. I then went into photos and enlarged it so I could read the sign ' You are now leaving Parminister'. I can't believe I just did that..... I need a life???

merlotgran Thu 21-Sept-17 10:02:37

Aaaaah. Mystery solved, maryeliza. I just saw the Parminster bit.

NotTooOld Thu 21-Sept-17 10:17:49

Thanks, maryeliza, one's own posts coming up pink must be new since I was last on. That was a good bit of detective work. Perhaps you just need a new life as a sleuth!

TerriBull Thu 21-Sept-17 11:09:11

Caught up with this last night. I think the young boy who plays Tom conveys teenage angst incredibly well, not surprising he has it in spades given what his parents are putting him through. Maybe he will be "one to watch" for the future.

Alima Thu 21-Sept-17 12:26:18

Just caught up with the latest episode. I think it is very well done, the deed, angst, retribution and all that. The saddest part of all is how their actions are screwing up their son. It would be wonderful if the mum and son drove off into the sunset and got on happily with their lives. Wouldn't be very good TV though. Bring it on!

Grandma2213 Fri 22-Sept-17 04:06:03

For those of us who have suffered this wouldn't we have liked to? It's just a drama but hey who needs realism when we are hurt!!!!

Lillie Tue 26-Sept-17 12:52:06

I'm getting worried now. An interesting article in The Times today says the writer based his character, Dr. Foster, on Medea in Greek Mythology who kills her ex's lover as well as her own children as revenge. Sounds a bit grisly.

CherryHatrick Tue 26-Sept-17 12:57:29

I stand corrected Day6 grin

maryeliza54 Tue 26-Sept-17 22:36:52

Did she or didn't she?

BlueBelle Tue 26-Sept-17 22:39:46

Ohhh er umm did she indeed I think she might have you know

pensionpat Tue 26-Sept-17 22:40:46

I don't think she did. She turned the steering wheel at the last minute. And there is a whole final episode to fill. I anticipate more physical violence from him.

merlotgran Tue 26-Sept-17 22:45:59

My prediction is that she turned the wheel sharply to the left to pull up in front of him and make him get in the car.

Or............
