I'm going to burst if I don't tell someone!

I just wanted to update my thread - thank you all for your kind thoughts, it was great being able to ‘tell’ in safety. Well: a baby boy born safe and well, as is his mother my DiL, after a fairly problematic few months! Very small (he was premature) but doing fine. My DS and DiL are both ecstatic and besotted, as are we. Thank you all and congratulations to everyone else with new arrivals!

How exciting and wonderful. A new grandchild to look forward to. Encourage her to take plenty of rest in first 4 months especially. I hope she has an easy pregnancy and baby born safely.

So thrilled and happy for you - you must be over the moon and so much to look forward to.

Our family waited 20 years for our little IVF miracle, a darling granddaughter born at 32 weeks weighing 3lbs. 6 ozs. in October 2015. Immense joy and gratitude to the amazing docs who made it possible.

What exciting news Icy-absolutely thrilled for you and that you could tell us all on here. Our DD1 started her family young, no probs at all. DD2 has chronic health probs, married later, we assumed no babies. Then-ta dah!-suddenly she announced she was expecting and we have a lovely DGD from them. We assumed that was it as it is a big ask for her to get pregnant as she has to stop her drugs beforehand well, what do you know, she's expecting again. She, too, was concerned about being older but, the medics say they're all very experienced at older Mums now so rest assured she will be watched like a hawk. Anyway blue kitchen they don't have prams now it's travel systems! Lol! Ooh Icy such exciting days ahead-delightful news. Won't you enjoy telling everyone when you can?

On my birth board on another site there was a member who had her daughter at 50! She suffered losses for over 20 years and never gave up! Her story is truly harrowing but her daughter is perfectly healthy and absolutely beautiful!

I can't believe just how many older mothers there seem to be now, on the evidence here. There was an interview today with the Chief Exec of midwives saying we should stop scaring older women who are pregnant, and I quite believe it now. Please keep your stories coming, you are wonderfully calming.

My sister-in-law got pregnant at age 45 after 20 years of marriage. She never gave up. My brother and she had a beautiful little girl who is now a healthy, intelligent 17 year old. Good luck. God bless you all!

I found out, when on holiday earlier this year, that a niece (42) is pregnant. We had thought they must have decided not to have children! I spent the day smiling big smiles every time I thought about it, which was almost constantly.

On the same theme, I have a lovely, healthy great- nephew, whose mother at 43, found out she was six months pregnant, for the first time.

Congratulations. My husband was born a healthy baby in 1918 when his mother was 42 long before all the care we get these days, so your daughter in law will be fine.
