This week I visited three charity shops which had a display of Xmas cards - in August!

Spread a layer of Vaseline on skin around hairline and ears this will stop the dye colouring the skin.

I used to work in a school and there was no mention of the C word until after the October half time.

I volunteer in a charity Christmas card shop every year, A few weeks ago we had a coffee morning to sort out the rota for all the volunteers. The shop will be set up over 3 days in October and will open for business on Thursday 12 October. October is not a busy month but after the half term holidays and Bonfire Night we have lots of customers. so christmas starts in October for me!

As soon as we enter January I begin to squirrel away gifts as I have a lot to buy. I also save money into my Christmas savings account each month so I am well prepared. I love how I can enjoy Christmas with no debt and no money worries (quite the opposite to my past life 13 years ago). However I don't approve of early advertisements and festive shop displays before November. The year passes quickly enough as it is.

March paddyann isn't that a bit late to start! . I start stocking my goodie cupboard in the post C*******s sales and continue buying odds and ends as the year goes on but I do it very quietly indeed - essential as my old boy has latent "Bah humbug" tendencies! Conversely I don't like to see the shops full of stuff ridiculously early .

It does seem to early but businesses such as restaurants and hotels have to get their menu's sorted and take early booking so they can arrange for staff etc,same with shops they have to get their stock organised as most merchantise comes in from abroad nowadays.
Money wise there are only 4 paydays until C-------s is on top of us and loads of people have to budget over those months if they want to manage their buying sensibly so its a no win situation really as not everyone has £s put aside for the extra expence.

DD said to me the other day that her DH had said "have you told your Mum that we're doing Christmas yet?!"

Not until after St Nicolas day here, 6th of December, even the shops need special licences to advertise. Although the Christmas markets tend to start on the 1st of december.

Always used to sort Xmas from beginning of December, what happened?

I suppose it deedeped how many pressies you have to buy and organisating you need to do. I only have 4 to buy for one f them is H and we only exchange token gifts. There will be 5 of us for lunch at most.

When we were shopping in Morrisons last week three of the cabinet freezers (usually housed ice-cream etc) were empty, I jokingly said to OH that there would probably be Christmas stuff in there soon. Went in yesterday and there were some packs of "party" food!
Shouldn't be allowed until mid November at the earliest lol.

I saw an advert for realistic looking artificial Christmas trees on tv in mid July. If DH hadn't been in the room too, I wouldn't have believed it!! It's far too early yet to be thinking about it but it won't be long before it is rammed down our throats. How sad, it takes away the true meaning of the season, as people become so fed up or even "tuned out". There's far too much pressure and commercialism now, just as there is with Easter and Halloween.

Er.....I've HAD to mention it as we're just starting rehearsals for the C.......s Panto and getting details sorted for the village C.......s fair and street lights! Sorry..........<hangs head in shame>

I usually start thinking about it, if not actually doing anything about it, after NOV 5th has been and gone.
However teetime if I came across, say, a lovely garden centre selling Christmassy things, I may well be tempted, as I am a magpie, tempted by all things shiny and glittery.?

been stocking my Ch......s present cupboard since March ,even tried out new lights last week to see the effect in my back garden ..booked Hogmanay party and rooms for family and have sorted menus so I can get organised by Novenmber which is my ideal wrap and shop finished date

Not until at least October. I see shelves are being cleared in supermarkets - watch out for the decorations and trees!
