I just inspired myself in another thread, by thinking that some folk view ladies of a certain age as 'past it' and only interested in homely things.. Over 50s ladies shouldn't.. (Over to you, ladies)
Shouldn't wear thongs, skinny jeans or bodycon dresses. Shouldn't have rainbow hair, walk around with headphones ? on in the street or climb on play equipment in the park. Shouldn't get drunk, shop in Ann Summers or become a naturist. And definitely shouldn't have sex
My 6 year old grandson often says to my 'Do you want to come up to my bedroom for a Boogie ?' We put on Ed Sheeran and dance the night away. My DS came and asked us to turn the volume down [ grin]
Telly I loved your daughter's reaction when you said you fancied going to NY. Did she think that you really should not be going further than your local supermarket? In her eyes at your advanced age has life now passed you by?
This has been the best thread on here for ages! I'll just add imagining I am 18 and on the dance floor when doing my aerobics class to Justin Timberlake!
Love listening to 6Music,especially the Craig Charles Soul and Funk programme on Saturday evenings. Yesterday he played Creedence Clearwater Revival's version of "I heard it through the grapevine." Brilliant.
Told my daughter a few years ago that I would like to go to New York. Look of horror on her face followed by 'what would you want to go to NY for?' I'm over 60 but thought I was doing quite well........
Just painted my toe nails blue - is that ok for an over 50 year old (69 actually!) ? And no they don't match my varicose veins because I don't have any (or not many)
Wear bikinis Not wear underwear Give high fives Go back to education Wish for one night with a much younger handsome guy who really knows what buttons to push!
Shouldn't wear skinny jeans. (I do.) Shouldn't express opinions. (I do.) Shouldn't advise about baby/childcare unless wearing nurse's uniform or sporting a stethoscope round the neck! I've learned to obey this one! It's not worth the hassle. Shouldn't do karate. My mother-in-law used to ask me every time I saw her, 'Are you still doing karate, Liz?' Should be invisible. (I strive not to be.)
Say "Could you phone me-I'm not really suitable for FaceTime at the moment!" Did that to my SIL this am. His face, before he shut down, was a picture. My daughter promptly texted with, "We'll phone later".
