I'm in Staffordshire. . . . I'm intrigued, where are we all? I know some are abroad.

Hampshire, just north of Portsmouth smile

Jane10 - we've been here a while, projected move will be back to northern England when DH retires, but who knows where or when... I've just posted on the thread for Edinburgh meet on the 16th but may not be able to make that one.

Marydoll - yes, it's very often lovely and sunny in N Berwick, but we're still on hols in Teesdale today where it's a bit more mixed.

Nandalot Sun 13-Aug-17 12:08:35

We used to live just north of Portsmouth Lynnieg , but now live south of Lincoln. We came up for a job move 41 years ago meaning to stay for two!

Suki - I'm thinking of moving to Beckenham. SuzieD - my favourite eaterie at Crystal Palace is Lorenzos. Both areas are quite near me.

I've been thinking of moving to Beckenham for ages. We love Crystal Palace Park and take the dog there regularly. I also shop in Bromley practically every week.

Wow! Aren't we a mixed bunch? Canada, NZ, Italy, Malta, Ireland, California. . . .
Et les femmes en France-je suis jealouse! Est-ce qu'on peut avoir une groupe bi-langue peut etre?
Now Staffs ladies-Pensionpat, Juliette, Cherrytree59 and Tallulah57-shall we arrange a meet up? I'm mid staffs, Juliette N Staffs so where would be central (and near a train station-or even better a bus route to use our free passes-lol!)?

callgirl1 Sun 13-Aug-17 18:36:02

Nandalot, if you`re south of Lincoln, you can`t be all that far from me in Boston?

Suki70 Mon 14-Aug-17 21:22:45

GrandmaMoira and DanniRae yes, move to Beckenham , I can recommend it. West Wickham is good too. Beckenham Place Park is excellent for dog walking Danni and Kelsey Park is beautiful. It looks as if we three and Suzied frequent the same places, we probably pass each other in Crystal Palace or Bromley without realising.

Teddington, south west London, would enjoy a meet up with other people, perhaps in central London?

DanniRae Tue 15-Aug-17 07:54:47

Hi Suki - maybe we should all buy purple hats, or such like, and wear them when we are in the park or in Bromley. Isn't it a shame that they shut the cafe in the park - we used to enjoy sitting outside there for a cuppa. The new place doesn't seem the same?

whitewave Tue 15-Aug-17 07:58:04

South Downs between Worthing and Brighton.

DanniRae Tue 15-Aug-17 08:00:20

Hi grannysyb - I used to live in Teddington before I was married. This would be 1964 (when I left school) to 1970. I lived on Kingston Road. I loved Teddington Lock and shopping in Kingston. Used to go to the tv studios and once, when waiting outside with a friend saw three of the Beatles walk across the foyer! Shame I can't remember which three because I was so excited!!

Charleygirl Tue 15-Aug-17 11:28:37

grannysyb I think that would be a good idea to meet in central London and then maybe those of us who live in NW London can meet up with those "foreigners" in South London?

MaizieD Tue 15-Aug-17 12:06:53

Originally from Essex (Colchester, hi pittcitygrin). Now in the NE, near to Durham City, via a spell in South Yorkshire.

Still have some affection for my home town despite the local council's determined efforts to ruin it over the years...

Welshwife Tue 15-Aug-17 13:40:26

I originate from Middx/Surrey borders area now on edge of greater London - lived in Surrey for many years and then South Wales. Now in SW France - South of Bergerac and about three hours south of Christine in Limoges.
We have become country bumpkins with farmers crops etc around us.

Pittcity Tue 15-Aug-17 17:03:19

I'm waving MaizieD....yes there is a lot of ruining going on here.
I have only been in Colchester for 14 years. Originally from Ilford and moved to north of the county via Brentwood. Essex born and bred though!

I live in The Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. It's sunshine & showers today. smile

Marydoll Tue 15-Aug-17 20:27:30

Rascal, you are so lucky to be living there. envy

callgirl1 Tue 15-Aug-17 20:48:59

Rascal, a lovely place to live, but oh, those midgies at this time of year!

rascal Tue 15-Aug-17 21:15:28

Thank you Marydoll and callgirl1. Yes very fortunate living in this beautiful place I do appreciate it all. The midges aren't so bad now. It's end of May onto June seems the worst time. Rain is another feature with being surrounded by mountains. But when the sun shines it makes up for it ałl. sunshine

Tizliz Tue 15-Aug-17 22:21:39

rascal we were only saying today that we regret not buying a house near Callander not that we are unhappy were we are.

callgirl1 Tue 15-Aug-17 22:50:31

Rascal, we were at Loch Lomond, on a caravan site on the loch, it was July, and I was almost eaten alive by midges, the only bit of the holiday I didn`t like.

rascal Wed 16-Aug-17 00:24:37

Yes Tizliz Callander is a nice place we visited it last year. smile
