I'm from Northumberland but living in SW France for the last 16 years.
We had friends from the NE staying recently, and she wore very discreet makeup, otherwise she said people think she's ill.
Made me realise, no-one here needs to do that, we all have ruddy complexions ( even me, normally a pastyface.)
