My best forever friend, she has been my confidante since 1960 has been diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer. She is 75 years old. She is to have a scan on Wednesday to see if the cancer has spread to other organs and bones. Treatment is to be chemo, mastectomy followed by radium. At the same time her son's girlfriend aged 45 years has also been diagnosed with breast cancer. They go to the same hospital. She hasn't, as yet, told her son that she has it as he is worried sick about his girlfriend. My friend will have to,very soon, tell her son and daughter about her own cancer. I do not know what words to say to her to give her comfort, she is shaky and feels sick with worry.
The girlfriend has had two scans and has seen an oncologist since Tuesday, when she was told the sad news. My friend seems to be if the opinion that the hospital know already that they can't do anything for her. My friend was given her news the day before her son's girlfriend.
