....the jars...

Tegan2 Thu 27-Jul-17 22:24:05

I'm trying to have a clear out at the moment as I am incapable of throwing anything away and my house is turning into one of those that you see in those cluttered house programmes. I tend to hang onto old coffee jars etc [thinking I'll need them to put paint in when I'm decorating/upcycling]. I have some M&S pudding jars that I've been trying to throw out and also those little jars that you buy seafood in [that have shells embossed on the sides]. Also we went to Calke Abbey at the weekend and saw that they use old fish paste jars to keep sweet little flower decorations in.On top of this, we go to another coffee shop that uses old golden syrup tins as sugar containers [so I've had to make lots of flapjacks as an excuse to buy some golden syrup]. This thread is NOT helping my de cluttering. At least I now have someone to blame.[I struggled to find those little tea lights but eventually found some at wilkos; not remote controlled though; now suffering from remote control envy...

Charleygirl these are LED "fake" tea lights, would they set off smoke alarms? (Worried now!)

Phoenix you're probably doing a public service, just think how much you'll be saving the national grid in electricity usage. I'm sure knowing that will justify buying a few more puds! grin

phoenix do you live close to the fire station?!

My smoke alarms appear to be ultra sensitive so they would not work here, apart from the minor fact I would not be buying them because I do not like desserts.

Considering it's only July, at the rate you,re going Phoenix you'll have enough remote control tea lights to light up the whole street grin

Lazigirl I don't seem to have many other empty glass jars that would be suitable for inexpensive LED candles blush

seacliff, I wasn't keen on the raspberry, agree the chocolate is very delish, but passionfruit is totally yum!

As I really can't be doing with waste, I might end up with umpteen lights, just thinking how nice they might look on the book cases, on the staircase, ...................

The remote control thing is brilliant, imagine what a PITA it would be having to turn upside down umpteen tea lights when you were going to bed, whereas with these you just go "click" smile

Well Phoenix, you made me go and buy that yummy chocolate desert, (it was wonderful .) Now I want to try the other flavors.

I have the GU glass jars too ...not as deep. I saw a pic recently where some one had decorated them with glass paint, very pretty worth a candle in.

What a great idea especially LED lights with REMOTE CONTROL for when you are too stuffed with pud to move! Ordinary tea lights get very hot & can crack glass but wot's wrong with any old empty jars phoenix? wink

Ive just bought some after reading this Phoenix. I have glass jars which contained delicious yoghurt from Aldi. They will look lovely. Thank you.

Evening all.

I started a thread recently about the yummy deluxe mini deserts in little glasses that Lidl have been selling.

Willsmadnan posted that she was keeping them to use with tea lights in.

"What a good idea" I thought. "That could look jolly nice, especially at Christmas".

So, as tea light candles burn down very quickly, I had a look on you know where, and they have very nice LED ones with (get this!) remote control shock

They were very reasonably priced, so I ordered some. I gave them a quick try out, but have now put them away for Christmas.

I currently have 24 of them blush and still have 4 mini desserts in the fridge, with 4 of the LED tea lights ready to go in them.

So, that sort of works, but if I buy more puds..... .. .....

In my defence, we are not going to have a tree this Christmas, planning to make the fireplace the focal point, so clusters of little jars with lights in would be nice..........
