Rhea Eggs

Decorate it and have it as an ornament, maybe? I've wanted to get hold of a large egg for ages to decorate for our village show, but don't know where I can get one locally, so that is what I would do with one

So as not to waste the contents,I would then probably make a big frittata, or eggy bread.

I did see a programme some time ago where they used and ostrich egg which had several large yolks. Lots of cake?

There is an ostrich farm near us which has a reknowned restaurant. They sell decorative lampshades and things made from the eggshells.

I've never thought about what to do cooking-wise with such an egg. Probably too much for just the 2 of us.

Just had a look at some German cookery pages for ideas. Apparently one ostrich egg is the equivalent of 25-30 chicken eggs!

I also found instructions for opening an ostrich egg without damaging it, for decorative use. (In German) It involved using an electric drill!

Be great for meringue though , just think of all tat white from one egg!,
