That sounds like Grandad in this house, he is always misbehaving.

DGD2 took herself to the naughty step - 'I was naughty, wasn't I!' and sat there beaming. She was about 2 at the time.

My GD told her dad he should sit on the naughty step last time I was there. She thought he was messing about at the tea table!

I always find it strange when the OP doesn't come back. What was the point of posting then? Unless it's just to read the various replies.

My DGC are away for a week and my naughty step (stool/cracket) is looking sad and forlorn, as it's almost always had a little bum on it by now (well one in particular) and speaking to his daddy last night he is only up to his 8th huff in 24 hours. Perhaps they should have taken it with them?

It really depends on what you think a 6 year old ought to be doing ..If you are like my mum was when we were tiny and she was the same with her gc too then it would be sit still and make no noise. If you are like me then it's make noise, make a mess ,run round ,have fun ,be a child.

Oh no, I would get a very sore bottie if I had to sit for that long. And bored. And naughty.

Sometimes I feel like getting on the naughty step (in my house its a little cracket)and sitting reading a book myself Jalima but apparently I am never quite naughty enough.

Isn't it a minute for every year of your life? 55 minutes would suit me just fine.

Not even a problem at 16 I watched my grandson in a footie match (16-18) yesterday and they were all a bit mad and listening to the singing and banter coming from the wash room after the match.... energy and adrenaline levels off the scale
Bless him at 6 let him be as he is cut him some slack and let him be a daft little boy unless he's doing dangerous things and I guess you would have told us if they were dangerous

When did you look after him in the day-time for 7 weeks? Was that recently, as they have only just broken up for the long summer holidays and he should have been in school surely?

At 6 I think he is fully entitled to "do stupid things and show off" WidgeyW.

My middle granddaughter (now 9) has always done crazy things and she is a born show off performer too. Her elder sister and little brother are not like this at all. Good for her I say, I wish I could take a leaf out of her book!

What kind of daft things? Climb on to the wall cupboards? Swing the cat round by its tail?

Buy him a football/trampoline/scooter/whatever and send him outside.
He obviously has loads of energy and it needs to be channelled.

hes's SIX .he's still a baby .give him a break .If he's still showing off...whatever that means when he's 16 then you might have a problem but most six year olds I know do silly things ,tell daft jokes and and tall tales.Its all part of growing up surely .

The best thing to do with a child who shows off is ignore them. They're only doing it for attention. Sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's irritating.

Give him plenty of attention when he's behaving well. If he's bored, give him something to do.

He's only 6 - cut him some slack! Do you want to break his spirit completely? I can't believe how seriously you're taking this...
