Lara To answer your question "why do you keep coming back". To be perfectly honest every time I do look in it is with the great hope that Jingle has been allowed back, if she wants to of course. Can she? I have even logged into the mobile site here to get the emphasis correct. And the answer is.........?

I confess I only come on here because of the Gransnet Daily emails that I receive. If a subject interest me I read through all the responses and have, occasionally, added my own twopenny worth. I like the ones that make me laugh - the virtual Gransnet Olympics etc. The political posts I tend to just skim through.

Am amazed at the names of posters that I have never seen before.......do carry on posting on many other threads ( even if you avoid certain ones.)

Have now read every single post on here.....think that what the majority say about the threads is true, and very obvious that most are avoiding political threads and liking the the informative, supportive and light hearted threads much better.
It makes sense!

Just thinking on....I've been very down the last week or so. But had a couple to PMs from GN friends, like-minded souls which cheered me up.

Then came on this thread and Alima's 'fucking fairy sign' make me LOL

Then read DJ's post which reminded me that in an ever-changing world some things are constant!

I've learnt a lot more about Brexit from like minded people on here than I ever would have done from Brexiteers who tell us to just accept it and go with the flow. In other words, don't rock the boat and leave it all up to Davis and May.

DJ you have summed the problem of the political threads up perfectly when you say I come on GN, ..... to discuss politics with like minded people., which is great for you and your like minded people but very boring for everybody else. Preaching to the converted has never really interested me.

I come on GN to discuss politics with other people with an interest in politics who think differently to me. Not to convince them of my views or have them try to hector me into accepting their views, but to treat them, and any party they support with respect and to explore views I do not support and understand the background to those views and those that advocate them.

Personally I'd rather go head-to-head with some on the political threads than listen to some of the sanctimonious clap-trap I've been reading lately.

I came on for intelligent conversation not to listen to old biddies swooning at the odd swear word

However, I come on GN, as I said in my first post, to discuss politics with like minded people.
There are lots of fluffy threads on GN.
