To own up or not?

Definitely cancel and say why. Some vets charge if you simply don't turn up. They will have a laugh.
I once had to cancel as I couldn't get puss to co-operate - he wouldn't get in his travel basket no matter how much I tried. How pathetic is that?
I shut him in a room with the basket already fully opened and take him by surprise now.

Do cancel and tell - our vet always loved new tales and this must be a "first". They were always very understanding if I phoned to cancel at the last minute when the "always in at a certain time" cat could be relied upon to disappear a couple of hours before his appointment. "Happens all the time with cats" was their reply.

I'm going through a particularly stressful time at the moment - healthwise and also a close family member has died with all that entails plus the sadness. Reading this thread has really cheered me up! It is so funny and I'm sure the vets will have a good laugh about it!!!

I think they'd see the funny side. Re the avocado though, dogs can eat them, mine loves them. They shouldn't be given them whole or with the stone still in place though. Personally I'd have thought that was common sense. As soon as my dog sees me with an avocado in my hand he sits at my feet waiting for a slice or six

When I was a teenager I pulled a lump off a new loaf and ate it. Mum was horrified as she thought we had mice. I didn't own up and watched her setting traps and cleaning every nook and cranny. Still feel guilty about it!

Just tell the truth - they will be pleased your cat is okay, they won't be wasting an appointment because you didn't cancel and it will probably give them a giggle. Won't be the first funny story they have heard I bet

The vet probably won't care less when you cancel and won't ask for an explanation, certainly the receptionist who you cancel the appointment with, as long as you cancel in plenty of time; they'll need to get another animal in so they don't lose money...

This is quite funny but if DD3 is not comfortable sharing all the details (i.e. rotten squash spilling out from the cupboard) she can say that when something inadvertently spilled on her kitchen floor, she assumed it was the kitten and that he must be sick because the 'wee' had the wrong color.

Just tell the vet what you've just told us. No big deal. They are used to having appointments cancelled. Make sure you do it quickly or you may end up with a cancellation fee!

Hope the poor little kitty didn't get a telling off ! DO tell the vet ...they will love it !

Well, at least most of them do, I did buy one from M&S Food that was rotten within two days.

I had a smell permeating through my house so badly that I got the drain people out ( I was on a scheme but had to pay something ) the smell did seem to die off but some time later the same smell returned ( it never connected with me that it was a year later)! If I hadn't read (I think on hereh someone talking about the overpowering smell of their wax plant so I went and sniffed my wax plant and yes you guessed it wasn't my drains at all

Tell them the truth, and you can bet your bottom dollar that they will have a good giggle, and your DD3 will have made their day.
Think of it this way, the Vet and his/her colleagues may be having a bit of a sad day, and a story like this would help lift their spirits ?.

Years ago my Dad got his Doctor out because he swore there was something in his ear making a buzzing bip bip sound.
He got very stressed and kept arguing with the Doctor who had examined his ears and kept telling him there was nothing wrong.
Eventually they discovered it was his smoke alarm bipping because it needed a new battery !!

When he phoned to tell me about it he couldn't talk for laughing about it.

His Doctor said it was the best story he'd got to tell when he got back to his surgery.

So there you are.....if you hear a bipping sound it's not your ears.
