As ever I turn to GN
My sister 50 and her FIL 80 are having a joint birthday party.
I have already had my style advice from some lovely GNers
My sister has wrote a speech that probably covers herself (as in thank yous) and a toast wishing her FIL a Happy Birthday.
but I've been told content is top secret and it is going to be read out by a male friend
I am also saying a few (top secret) words
I will be asking those present to join me in my Time Machine for a short journey back in time starting with year my sister was born.
It will be done with gentle humour.
I am the only person left that can talk about her early life.
My dilemma is;
I think that it is more than likely the person reading her speech will perform a toast, ask guests to stand and join him in wishing my sister Happy Birthday.
When my Time Machine returns to 2017.
If the speech reader hasn't toasted sister then not problem, I will do the Happy birthday toast
However if he has made a toast,
I'm not sure how to word my ending and bring to a close
(I can't ask DH as whole speech will be rewritten!)
Do I ask everybody to stand once again or is that a bit OTT?
Think I would want keep the ending lighthearted and informal.
PS any speech advice most welcome
