Summer of 69

Guessing I'm a bit younger than a majority on here but wasn't born summer of '69!

I was 7 and enjoying playing on the beach in South Wales with my older brother and sisters.

I was expecting my first child,I remember the hot summer,she was born in August!
Had moved to Sweden to live six monthe before,and everything was so new and exciting, those were the days!

Thinking it was all over for me. Then on the 1st November met the man I've now been married to for nearly 45 years.

My first child was born - true love - nuff said!

I was 9 and spent the summer with my grandmother and gramps in South Wales like I did every year, that year in particular because of the moon landing, arrived speaking like a londoner and left speaking with a Welsh accent so many good memories...... ?

I was 24 and met dh. He took me to see Hair at the Shaftesbury Theatre London. a bit racy because of it's nude scenes??. Shopping at Biba's, mini skirts. Very short Vidal Sassoon hair cut. Benny Hill, Up Pompeii and Lulu singing "boom bang-a-bang" in the Eurovision Song Contest, very happy days.

I was 16 and spent the summer lazing about in Ireland. I was supposed to be changing my mind about starting a cadet nursing course, according to my parents. I did go on the course but admitted 3 years later that my dad was right, nursing wasn't for me. It took me another 24 years before I went to university & discovered social work was my ideal job

Still school age and holidaying with my parents in Scotland. I can remember sitting in the residents tv lounge of the Glencoe hotel (way before every room had a telly!) and watching the moon landing in black and white.

Got married! Moved to new house, new town, new job!

I saw the Rolling Stones at Hyde Park. I was only fourteen and remember looking out at a sea of beautiful people dressed in velvet and beads. I was absolutely overwhelmed by it, and only being fourteen, felt as if I was on the outside looking in. I remember when Mick Jagger released thousands of butterflies into the crowd, in memory of Brian Jones. If I close my eyes I am back there, and it it as vivid as ever.

Just left school got my first job so had money in my pocket for the first time and another first a pair of 'hotpants' thought i was it.

'69...I was 22 - just landed dream job in Bloomsbury publishers ....dropped acid at weekends...lived in Georgian flat in Islington...summer in Morocco .....Does anyone remember the Island Queen in Noel Road Islington? - with life size puppets suspended from the ceiling.....it was all a bit de trop in '69...before I had children of course....Two years later when I did, with maternity leave at 6 weeks and irresponsible husband, things somewhat crashed.

I was 9 so probably out playing on my roller skates with my friends! I remember watching the moon landing on tv too.

DD1 arrived safe and sound if a little lightweight Summer of '69.

I was 21 in the September of that year and got engaged in June!! Happy days!!

69 was the year I passed my 11+ and was one of 4 children from my much loved primary school that went up to Grammar. Spent the next 5 years lost, lonely and confused. Do wonder how much happier I would have been if I had gone off to the local secondary school with my friends.
I grew up and got over it! If I'd known then what I know now .... ?

married in april of 69 at 21 so it was a long hot summer of married bliss [i think].
we had a newly built house courtesy of the bank of mum and dad but no new furniture to put in it. parents in law moved to a furnished house so we had the luxury of their furniture until they wanted it back.
the moon landing happened on my dad's birthday and i remember watching it on our old, not very reliable tele .......... black and white, very small screen. very difficult to make things out.
seems a long time ago now - well i suppose it was - almost 50 years!

Seems that there were a few of us who were 7 that year.
My sister was born and I kicked the doctor who had delivered her in Mum's bedroom (remember that?) because he had promised me a brother!

Don't wish to be naughty (especially on a Sunday) but I was told that Brian Adams wrote his popular song 'Summer of 69' was written not about the year but a certain 'position !!!blushbludh

I was 18 and at work. Met the man who became DH. Been married 44 years this year. Had many good times together.

I was 18 and remember a holiday on the Isle of Wight...

I had my two boys aged 5 and 2. We had a greengrocers in Burgess Hill. Remember buying shortie nighties in poly/ cotton from Marks in pretty checks and wearing them as tops over my trousers. No one cottoned on and they were lovely and cool to wear.

I did my O Levels, dumped my first boyfriend and had foot surgery which necessitated 2 weeks in hospital and the rest of the summer in a plaster boot!
