I'm driving myself mad with my pedantry!

I do the thing with matching pegs but life's too short to put underwear and socks on the line, and towels only come off like cardboard so they go in the drier as well.
Re putting washing up away, once, after my husband had emptied the dishwasher, and after a short search, my daughter and asked him 'if you were a cheese grater where would you be?' - it's become a family joke now

I couldnt care less what colour pegs I use! I used to have wooden ones but they went mouldy when left outside and make marks on the clothes so I threw them out and got plastic ones. I rather like the effect of random coloured pegs - if I think about it which I usually dont.
But my peg bag which hooks on the rotary drier has fallen apart - anyone know where I can get another?

Oh this made me laugh! I'm the same, but I have wooden pegs and grey plastic pegs - and never the twain shall meet! I've also somehow inherited a red plastic peg and some smaller, less sturdy, wooden pegs. I can't use the red peg unless I'm only hanging one thing out.
I can't mix the smaller wooden ones with their sturdier counterparts, but at least I can hang something out with a pair of them.
I'm Virgo ascendant, but I would still call this OCD (or being anal) rather than pedantry

Anyone ever watched the Julia Robertson film 'Sleeping with the Enemy'.? Poor girl panic stricken if tins in cupboards weren't lined up in the right order.? Towels in bathroom hanging in the right length.?

I do not care what colour the pegs are, never heard of all this before. Surely pegs are pegs! The only thing I do not like and find irritating are pegs left out on the line when the washing is in? My daughter and one or two others I know do this. Also a neighbour where I used to live would leave all the washing out day and night taking items off the line as and when needed. When there was eventually just a line full of pegs , the next lot of washing would appear......?

The colours don't bother but I have outside and inside pegs. Practical reason for this as the outside pegs are the strongest. I get really exasperated when helpful DH or DD muddle them up.

Virgo traits run through me like a stick of rock...nit-picking, methodical, list-making, organised etc. But these traits merge into OCD so I often wonder where one ends and the other starts !
Peg organisation on the washing line? Yes, been there done that, gave up and now I only use a tumble dryer.
During Football World Cup when everyone was hanging St George's flags on cars and buildings, I found myself obsessed by hanging washing using only alternate red and white pegs.... And I don't even follow football!!

I solved the peg problem by buying stainles steel pegs! There is one problem with them though, I hung the peg bag on the washing line on Tuesday when it was SO hot, and 2 hours later when I got another peg out of it, the pegs were too hot to hold! I must remember to leave the peg bag in the shade from now on!

nanasam - please go right back to old-fashioned wooden pegs (no colour co-ordination involved) before you go round the bend!

On the other hand, this seems fairly harmless compared to some of the full-blown OCD's that some people unfortunately find they've acquired.

When there were four of us at home not only did I colour code when pegging but each member of the family had their own side of the 4 sided rotary airer. The advantage was that when taking it in each person's stuff was together ready sorted but it did strress me out if I had too much stuff for one member of the family and ran out of space or pegs. Clearly I'm not alone which is kinda reassuring!

I am exactly the same nanasam, and buy plain wooden pegs. Problem solved!

You really need to get out more, just take a look at some of the awful things going on in the world today, so many people don't even know what a peg is.
Take five and chill!

Forget washing lines and forget pegs. I put everything into the tumble dryer, it's so quick and easy. The towels come out soft, the clothes need virtually no ironing which offsets the cost of the dryer (which isn't very much anyway}. I always use a single tumble dryer softener sheet each time which gives everything a lovely smell. Blue and pink pegs? ditch them.

Go buy new pegs - throw out these coloured ones that are ruining your life - then you are bound to find something else in your life to fret over! Poor you - what challenges you face!

Definitely touching on OCD!...I do exactly the same thing..... with everything!! I have to line up my coasters on the coffee table in the right order. I have made lids for my waste bins around the house...I almost colour code my ironing!! I move my ornaments almost on a daily basis..heeeeeelp!!

Bebe47 You are a girl after my own heart.....surely washing is what picket fences and patio furniture are for? I can't stretch up at all now and have discovered the delights of improvising drying spaces.

I do have a retractable line about 2 ft above my patios fence, and four well placed pairs of pants on there, can ensure that the people at the end of my garden have to have their lights on indoors.

Life is so short why waste a moment on pegs?

Oh I am a Virgo too, but my problem is correcting English and also the written word especially texts!! When I text I text in long hand no U R its you are, no tomoz its tomorrow etc. etc. When I get texts from people or people talk to me and say things like cartridge instead of cartilage, I just have to correct them. EEK I am a nightmare and the worst thing is I know I'm doing it but cannot stop. Apostrophes are my nemesis! If I receive a letter from a business and there is incorrect grammar and spelling mistakes, which I might add is frequently I want to ring them and tell them. Not quite so bad with the pegs though, I don't seem to mind different coloured pegs, not colored pegs you see. When did we start to use Americanisms!!!

This is absolutely nothing to do with pedantry - which means insistance on the correct spelling, word or grammar. You have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder as other poster has said. Don't worry there are self-help books on the subject. Good luck.
