Invisibility or "I think it was me actually"

It's happening again.
I post a comment on a thread, a couple of posts later AN Other says the same and there is a clamour of "well said AN Other . A little while later somebody remarks "as AN Other said....." and" I agree with AN Other "
It happens in RL too, at my Eng Lit class the tutor was "musing" on something (the name of a minor character) I gave the name, there was some more musing and muttering and then somebody else said it, then "oh yes of course! Well done you for remembering!"
hmmhmmhmm

JimmyRFU said "I call myself the afterthought. Hubby being taken for lunch on Saturday for Fathers Day. I was on holiday but came home to a nice book and card. But no lunch. He gets taken off for the day on his birthday. I get a gift and card. I'm always last to be considered for anything. I do all the planning, preparation, paying etc for Christmas, birthdays etc but am still the afterthought. It upsets sometimes."

There's a remedy for that. Stop doing all the planning etc. Delegate it, with a to-do list to remind whoever is to do it.
And then just sit it out when nothing gets done :-)

I don't know if it is possible, but having a "like" button as on Facebook would show that people have read the posting and agree with it. So acknowledging you and the point you have made. Even if they don't post a reply as such - it's much quicker than posting a response.

Yep ?

tidyskatemum Thu 15-Jun-17 20:32:20

Forget the online stuff - isn't this a situation lots of us have in social situations? We make a witty riposte, no-one takes a blind bit of notice and 5 minutes later someone says exactly the same thing and everyone falls over themselves to acknowledge how clever they are. Grrrr.......

Don't do the work, jimmy. Maybe they'll notice.

Have no idea what you're on about maw. If you're on about being "noticed" Ive sort of seen your posts but to be fair, never been particularly interested in airy fairy ideas, so sort of passed you by

Why people crave to be noticed is pretty bizzare. I come here and say what I want then leave.

grin

FarNorth Thu 15-Jun-17 14:19:00

Oh, I didn't notice someone else saying that grin

Jalima1108 Thu 15-Jun-17 13:25:41

I didn't make the point, I put it in italics with a grin because it was someone else's point

MawBroon Thu 15-Jun-17 13:18:43

It was quoted from SAAK as I understand. (The marks indicate a quotation usually from another post)

FarNorth Thu 15-Jun-17 12:58:59

"Why people crave to be noticed is pretty bizzare. grin"

That's an unusual point you've made, Jalima. What made you think of that?

Jalima1108 Thu 15-Jun-17 10:58:34

Lewd and leery sounds exciting!!
More please

MawBroon Thu 15-Jun-17 10:57:14

Her posts decried as "airy fairy"
MawBroon sat down aben the dairy
And thought of answers lewd and leery
But better o'it thocht so just,
"Aw, hawd yer wheesht " was her riposte.

Jalima1108 Thu 15-Jun-17 10:33:06

Keep the 'airy-fairy' poems coming MawBroon please

Jalima1108 Thu 15-Jun-17 10:29:51

FarNorth no, some threads are meant to be
educational, patronising and demands for links and proof not conversations or an exchange of opinions.
Hadn't you noticed?

FarNorth Thu 15-Jun-17 10:19:06

Threads and posts are sort of meant to be conversations, aren't they?
Some people sort of don't get that.

FarNorth Thu 15-Jun-17 10:15:57

And if you'd craftily switched it back again, ann, she'd have been sure to tell everyone that's you'd tried to fix it and you hadn't a clue!

Elegran Thu 15-Jun-17 09:49:11

"Virtue is its own reward"? It has to be. You don't get diamonds and a mink for virtue.

When someone seeing her ring exclaimed "Goodness!", Mae West replied, "Goodness had nothing to do with it, dear!"

grannylyn65 Thu 15-Jun-17 08:41:19

I find mind ( !) subconsciously answers a week later and they think you're crazy !!!

MawBroon Thu 15-Jun-17 08:28:16

grin
Who said "virtue is its own reward"?
Pshaw!

In slightly different context a friend and I went yo visit s mutual friend last week.
She mentioned that her i-pad wasn't working.
I said I would look at it.
I went in to settings, switched airplane move off, and reset. When it was OK I said its fine now and she said oh it must have been an intermittent fault with the server. She can whistle next time.
