Invisibility or "I think it was me actually"

(80 Posts)

It's happening again.
I post a comment on a thread, a couple of posts later AN Other says the same and there is a clamour of "well said AN Other . A little while later somebody remarks "as AN Other said....." and" I agree with AN Other "
It happens in RL too, at my Eng Lit class the tutor was "musing" on something (the name of a minor character) I gave the name, there was some more musing and muttering and then somebody else said it, then "oh yes of course! Well done you for remembering!"
hmmhmmhmm

Have no idea what you're on about maw. If you're on about being "noticed" Ive sort of seen your posts but to be fair, never been particularly interested in airy fairy ideas, so sort of passed you by.

Why people crave to be noticed is pretty bizzare. I come here and say what I want then leave.

Eloethan Thu 15-Jun-17 00:39:28

I think that happens to everybody at times.

Jalima1108 Wed 14-Jun-17 21:40:56

I am not at all argumentative in RL smile but then I don't know people like those on the politics threads either!

hildajenniJ Wed 14-Jun-17 21:13:53

Indeed Jalima, I don't begin a thread very often as I nearly always get shot down in flames. I think I'm quite invisible most of the time. It's probably my own fault as I tend to steer clear of confrontation.

Jalima1108 Wed 14-Jun-17 20:28:57

grin

rosesarered Wed 14-Jun-17 20:15:39

Hmmm, yes Jalima for sure somebody didn't like that raining comment did they?
Could it have been you? grin
I hereby amend it to.....it always seems to rain when we put a toe into Gloucestershire, but is otherwise very dry and sunny.

wildswan16 Wed 14-Jun-17 18:45:01

I am also often invisble when I make a sensible comment in a conversation, until of course I say something silly and all at once everybody immediately takes notice of me and comments on it. You just can't win.

Jalima1108 Wed 14-Jun-17 18:09:59

there are usually the same few posters queuing up to 'have a go' even when I say something along the lines of'what a lot of weather we are having lately
or "it's always raining in Gloucestershire"

FarNorth Wed 14-Jun-17 18:01:36

"more disconcerting is the fact that people often walk into me, I am overweight, they MUST blo***y well see me!!"

My DD says she has this happen to her a lot. She is of "statuesque" build and should be pretty noticeable.

kittylester Wed 14-Jun-17 17:27:34

I think I love Crafting! blush

Roses especially on politics threads! Xx

rosesarered Wed 14-Jun-17 17:22:21

Did you say something Maw ? grin

rosesarered Wed 14-Jun-17 17:11:59

I never feel invisible on GN......there are usually the same few posters queuing up to 'have a go' even when I say something along the lines of 'what a lot of weather we are having lately' grin

Luckylegs9 Wed 14-Jun-17 14:57:21

Seems you are in good company Maw Broom. One of the downside of getting older. I remember Sheila Hancock, saying that she sat in restaurants people watching, because she became invisible after her husband died.sigh...

Crafting Wed 14-Jun-17 14:30:49

? Invisible, certainly not you Maw, I always read your posts. You and Kitty and Phoenix can always be relied on for witty, thoughtful and entertaining responses. I can often tell phoenix's threads by the OP. You 3 always make good reading in my humble opinion.
please send cheque to my company, payment for compliments grin

kittylester Wed 14-Jun-17 13:41:58

I bookmark my posts at the last one I've read.

Bellanonna Wed 14-Jun-17 13:27:13

Oh was that YOU I bumped into yesterday kk? sorry, I didn't see you but I'm still rubbing my bruises!

MawBroon Wed 14-Jun-17 13:26:17

Did somebody say something about invisibility pills...?
gringrin

Kateykrunch Wed 14-Jun-17 13:20:19

Err, what about my post, "who said that" "twaz me further down the posts, 10:47 ish"....anyone? Hello!....I give up......lol

yggdrasil Wed 14-Jun-17 13:13:45

Merlotgran: "The graveyard slot for posts is at the bottom of a page. I've often clicked 'post' then realised it probably won't be read and somebody else will say exactly the same thing on the following page."

I have my threads the other way round, with the newest at the top. That way I only have to scroll down to the last one I remember reading, and work back up :-)

Elegran Wed 14-Jun-17 12:55:00

When DH was planning how to do something, I would say "How about . . .?" and get the answer, "Hmmm!! No, that wouldn't work" Then a few days later he would come home from work to report that XXXX had a great idea, what he should do is - yes you've guessed, what I suggested that was turned down.

kittylester Wed 14-Jun-17 12:42:47

Ha ha Ana, I'd forgotten that. See, I'm invisible! grin Although I didn't know I knew any household tips! shock

Auntieflo Wed 14-Jun-17 12:36:49

I also belong to this group , so we should all sign up to the invisibility club. It'll be alright cos no one can see us. Do your cars become invisible as well, like ours?

Ana Wed 14-Jun-17 12:36:44

(and got a lot of praise for it!)
