THAT wedding!

Well, what did we think?
Pippa looked beautiful, but how thin is she?
Big sister Kate looked very elegant and competent shushing those little page boys and flower girls. Not stealing the bride's thunder either which was nice. But what WERE those little boys wearing? confused And was little George really giving a 2 fingered salute? Or picking his nose?
Carole looked lovely, clearly pink is the in colour this year, I could wish some of the other guests had got the memo! What a motley crew they were! Including Roger Federer in a lounge suit with a double breasted waistcoat looking as if he had left the rest of his morning dress in the hotel.
Whew, now that's over we can get back to Chelsea Flower Show.
I wonder if the Bucklebury glass "marquee" doubles as a greenhouse? Monty Don, eat your heart out!

MawBroon - you haven't offended me. I just reread Bobby's post and wonder if the spelling thing is an issue, if so apologies.
Of course it was a lighthearted post and many of us enjoyed joining in, in a light hearted and positive way.
My issue is with the negative, abrasive and downright unpleasant comments directed either at other posters, the royals or the Middletons. How very dare they splash their cash?

MawBroon Mon 22-May-17 19:21:59

Well sorry if I have offended, but I didn't exactly enjoy being called a nasty person whose posts are "shite, "based on my original post.)
As penstemmon realised it was a bit of a lighthearted spoof of sleb magazines and the only person I am aware of being specifically critical of was Roger Federer and the (Unknown) person who put those poor little boys into gold knickerbockers.
However, I am clearly entirely negative, sad, weird, up my own bottom, need to get a life, etc etc etc.
How dare I?
Well as far as I know this forum is open for members to express opinions. Maybe I was wrong.
Maybe it would be preferable to emulate another poster and use foul language, but I don't think so.

Iam64 Mon 22-May-17 18:05:02

Bobby - agree with both your posts ??

Bobbysgirl19 Mon 22-May-17 17:56:22

I do enjoy coming on Gransnet, but why do so many of the posts decend into political slagging off. I have friends who vote for all the different parties, it doesn't affect our relationships, once again personal choice. Also picking up on someone's spelling is quite childish and rude in my opinion.
For what it's worth can we stop this 'tit for tat' attitude, iit beggars belief in Adults!

Bobbysgirl19 Mon 22-May-17 17:32:09

'Live and let Live' I always say. Didn't see much of the wedding, but why so many of the posts are extremely sour grapes is beyond me! Best of luck to them and get it spent! The taxman will soon get their grubby mitts on it. Also their choice of partners, clothes etc is their decision, we can have our own opinion but don't get catty over it.

TriciaF Mon 22-May-17 14:50:32

I forgot all about it, just had a look.
There were some fabulous clothes - I wonder what they'll do with them afterwards? I bet they won't wear them again, maybe sell them on ebay. If so I wouldn't mind one of those calf-length dresses.

Who on earth let in that obviously obnoxious boy who totally ruined a photo opportunity? Two finger salute. So much for upbringing and snobbery.

MawBroon Mon 22-May-17 11:05:26

Oh dear! I took the OP to be a rather lighthearted piss take/parody of the celeb columns in some newspapers and magazines
Thank you penstemmon!!
Glad somebody got the point of a fairly pointless thread!!
And if anybody , especially one who shall not be named thought I had nothing better to do with my life Sunday, I might point out the thread was started at 8.30 on a Sunday morning! brew brew

angelab Mon 22-May-17 10:55:27

penstemmon don't encourage SAAK to stay on the post! - all his/her posts are very unpleasant and unnecessarily rude.

stillaliveandkicking just saw your post where you imply that without a big time monarchy the alternative is a dictator. Just wanted to reassure you that there are a range of options!!

Penstemmon Mon 22-May-17 10:22:25

Oh dear! I took the OP to be a rather lighthearted piss take/parody of the celeb columns in some newspapers and magazines!

I have not seen more than the pic in the paper I get and the TV news. I have not sought more as not interested though of course I am aware of the event and the OP did make me go to investigate the extravagant marquee!

It seems to me that avid royalists can see criticism where none is made. The royals, and their periphery, do not need any of us plebs to defend them. they are above all that and anyway have a team of publicists who will sort any negativity out!

From what I saw the bride looked fine and fairly typical. Certainly not nearly as gorgeous as members of my own family look on their wedding days!! grin

Notme Mon 22-May-17 10:07:29

I still think the page boy is/was innocent.

mcem Mon 22-May-17 09:11:30

Don't worry pp - it's over and done.
Sometimes we get fed-up of a sniping poster so when she puts herself in the line of fire we fire back.
Pax !

Lilylilo Mon 22-May-17 08:39:39

'Second hand but of stuff' is particularly spiteful and somewhat old fashioned way !!!

pollyperkins Mon 22-May-17 08:29:57

This is getting very unpleasant. It's one thing to disagree with someone's opinions but quite another to descend to personal attacks and make fun of people's spelling or more probably typos which happen to all of us. A nice thread has been spoilt and It's a shame.

MontanaGal Mon 22-May-17 03:44:26

Well, well, stillaliveandkicking is stillaliveandbitching as usual.

absent Mon 22-May-17 02:33:19

Goodness – that was weird and some of it was extremely rude and contrary to GN guidelines.

stillaliveandkicking Sun 21-May-17 23:54:43

grin hopefully I won't.

mcem Sun 21-May-17 23:50:35

It's just a pity you seem to have managed to take only part 2 of that gem of advice.
Don't you think living your life vicariously through people who care not a jot about you is rather sad?
Wouldn't you rather be happy too?
Still if that's the life you choose......
Just don't expect all of us to buy into your strange world.
G'night ?

stillaliveandkicking Sun 21-May-17 23:40:54

I find the OP to be a very nit picking nasty person. It was a wedding and should be seen as such. I really don't care who was thin or thinner. I think that if posters like this feel they need to be so its a factor of what the media has become.

Get a life, drink gin, be happy,

mcem Sun 21-May-17 23:39:47

Yes I was vaguely aware of the word in a Rorschach context but couldn't see the relevance here. Hence the request for an explanation which was not forthcoming!
I think we may be a bit pendantic cos we're using big words!

Aaaw momb don't spoil our fun !!!

MawBroon Sun 21-May-17 23:35:06

"Loose"???
As in "loose women"?

stillaliveandkicking Sun 21-May-17 23:33:41

Eww, nasty.. Id rather loose than be like you.

MawBroon Sun 21-May-17 23:33:28

As the Donald would say "a NASTY woman grin

MawBroon Sun 21-May-17 23:32:46

Plot, the, losing

Rearrange these words to make a well known saying tcrgrin
