What annoys you about yourself?

As a lighthearted antidote to to stressful time recently,I was wondering what little things you do or say that annoy you?

I put one hand in an oven glove, then wonder why I can't lift the dish out of the oven...I'll start a household job even though I know I won't have time to finish it,and come back to the ironing board left out and to small mountain range of washing to be sorted.

It's the fine detail of plans that lets me down. I get the bigger picture but that old devil in the detail I will miss too many times. Then not only am I annoyed with myself but with the person who comes along and puts their finger straight on it.

FarNorth You could be describing me!! I start the day full of good intentions but end up doing nothing. When I was working I got everything done in a weekend, I think the problem is that now I am retired I think I can "do it tomorrow" and of course I don't!

Dont they say, if you want something doing ask a busy person? The more time i have, the less i manage to do. Procrastination procrastination!

What annoys me is i find myself saying and doing things my mother would have done, things i didnt like about her

I am a bit of an appeaser which causes problems as I actually have quite decided views about some things and couldn't care less about others. When those I have flattered and appeased for general harmony and peace suddenly find I am not a pushover about everything it annoys them.

I don't say NO enough. I often do things or go places I really don't want to do/go to please someone else.

However on the other side of the coin I DO spend far too much time in my craft room as I love messing about with paints, inks etc. I should be doing more housework but hey! it's clean enough to be respectable.

adrisco Sun 21-May-17 11:40:57

Not being assertive enough, trying to please everyone and being a total wimp. Can't seem to find my way out of this trap .... really really wish I could. I imagine what I'll say in certain situations .. then don't. I could kick myself most of the time.

Shyness. It's been the bane of my life. I thought I'd grow out of it, but no, at 64 I still can't get over it.

Maidmarion Sun 21-May-17 13:11:08

What I hate about myself is my inability to stoppppp thinking about my problems. They go round and round and round in my head alllll the time! Drives me mad. I guess if I had more company I'd be better. (Keep very busy, gardening, sewing etc, but those things still don't let my brain rest!!!!!!!)

I have no tolerance for stupidity especially if it costs the taxpayer money like when girls keep getting pregnant by different men or people take drugs or drink drive and kill some one. Poor spelling annoys me at work a lot especially as I work in an educational establishment.

Poor spelling annoys me

Are you guilty of these transgressions quizqueen or did you not read the OP properly? hmm

Mistress of procrastination, my ironing basket sat on my dining room chair for 3 weeks before I finally did it.

Oven needs cleaning but it's nice & sunny, when I've finished my lunch I'm working in the garden.

My hoover has been in the lounge for 3 days, I was going to do it yesterday but the cat was asleep on the chair, he hates the hoover, how could I waken him?grin

I'm not likely to change & am very well aware that I will find anything else to do rather than a chore I don't want to do, just hope I don't get unexpected visitorsblush

Definitely spending too long on the iPad is my worst vice. Parts of the house are a mess and I have so many projects on the go but the iPad beckons and time flies by and then I'm really cross with myself.
Byeee....

Sunseeker You could be my twin, now I am home all day I just put everything thing off until tomorrow where as before all jobs where done as soon as,never had ironing waiting or washing due to done I also walk on egg shells with regard to my DILs and the way they both treat my sons but best keeping my mouth firmly closed as once said it can't be taken back can it.?

I get so annoyed with myself that I cannot physically do what I did up until roughly a year ago. It takes me twice as long to clean the house (which is far too big for DH and I but he wont hear of selling it and downsizing sad but I will get my own back when he retires early next year!!)Also my mouth runs away with me, I wish I could 'put up and shut up' but this has never been my forte and has landed me in trouble more than once! I could go on and on but most things I do annoy me .....

hazel311259 Sun 21-May-17 16:58:24

reading instructions are last resort for me even if i don't have a clue

Moneyboss Sun 21-May-17 18:51:39

I hate that I cry too easily.

I hate housework and get annoyed when I set a schedule in my head then ignore it.

I dislike myself for being one of those people who always bring a conversation back to themselves, I do try to make an effort not to.

pollyperkins Sun 21-May-17 18:58:16

Procrastination for me too (I'm doing it now!)
Also talking too much especially about myself and getting carried away and saying stupid things I regret later (not offensive things just silly or maybe tactless, or trying - and failing- to be funny )

downsized Sun 21-May-17 19:38:34

I used to find myself very annoying but, having been through a tough few years, I am actually quite impressed with myself for not falling apart under the stress of it all.grin

Yorkshiregel Sun 21-May-17 19:41:31

What annoys me about myself? All my life I have done what others asked of me, leaving me no time to indulge myself. Since I retired I made up my mind to put myself first. People do not understand the change in me but they will get used to it. Trouble is that every time I say 'No' I feel guilty.

Also as MawBroon has said of herself, I do not understand how tax returns work and being so thick I have to ask OH about it, making myself too dependent on others.

PamelaJ1 Sun 21-May-17 19:42:27

All of the above!

Moocow Sun 21-May-17 19:44:26

Far too many already listed but having to choose 1 I guess right now it would be caring too much what others think.

Sparkle199 Mon 22-May-17 04:08:28

You and me both, gillybob!

BlueBelle Mon 22-May-17 04:54:21

Oh I m in the procrastination camp I wish we could have a club because I thought it was just me I so want to do things then never do them then beat myself up, everything gets put off till a never ending tomorrow
Mind you I can relate to most of the things on here, living on my own when I do get in company I can talk too much I tend to lose the thread of what I want to say whilst listening so jump in and say it before it goes and hate that, I wish I could be the stand back and think type I lose words that I know so well .....
in fact there's not much I like about me or ever have ( my bums ok though)

( I don't understand self assessment either and worry every year that I ve done it wrong I thought everyone else knew what they were doing)

kittylester Mon 22-May-17 07:20:35

I've thought of something else. I can't relax! How I wish I was one of those people who could say 's*d it' and sit down and read a book. That doesn't mean I achieve lots though because I faff about too! blush
