I have just spoken to Rubylady she had an appointment at the MRI today and was admitted to the Acute heart ward for tests. She is on a drip and is to have an MRI scan and an angiogram.
She sounds in good spirits, it is a nice ward and patients ok.
She asks "for grapes please"
Her son has been quite shocked by the seriousness of her condition and has come home to look after the dog and the other pets.

Wishing you well, ruby. It sounds a much less invasive procedure than a traditional approach to heart valve replacement. Hoping you feel so much better afterwards with much more energy.

The cardiologist I have seen does a lot of TAVI ops. I've just listened to a talk he gave to other medics about TAVI - it's very reassuring.
Hope all goes well.

MiniMouse Tue 09-May-17 15:16:54

Sending you best wishes for the op and a speedy recovery.

Galen Tue 09-May-17 15:07:38

Good luck to you. Aortic valve replacement by catheter rather than open heart should certainly be less traumatic.
Wishing you all the best

Hi all, angiogram went ok apart from the back pain which was really painful even with pain relief. Had a cardiac MI yesterday, same again really, pain in my back for an hour in the tunnel.

Consultants had a meeting this morning, conclusion of which is they are doing a TAVI operation. Has anyone had one of these done?

I have to have a CT scan first so that is being done first now so that they can see where they will be going when they put the valve in.

They have decided to do it this way because there is too much damage to my heart now and a full open heart operation will be too much. There is a lot of pressure in my lungs too.

Even though I knew this was coming at some time, it has still been a shock today. Feel very weepy. Xxx

Hope everything goes well Ruby.

Hope they will manage to make you comfortable for the angio. Hope it shows something which can be easily repaired. flowers
