I have just spoken to Rubylady she had an appointment at the MRI today and was admitted to the Acute heart ward for tests. She is on a drip and is to have an MRI scan and an angiogram.
She sounds in good spirits, it is a nice ward and patients ok.
She asks "for grapes please"
Her son has been quite shocked by the seriousness of her condition and has come home to look after the dog and the other pets.

Oh Ruby I wish I could come and sit with you. What a bugger. I know these ops are common and you'll be fine but I know it's not what you were expecting. Thanks for keeping us up to speed with things. Make a good recovery and get back to us when you can. Xx

rubylady Wed 17-May-17 14:36:15

Still waiting. Surgeons been, it's going to be full open heart surgery. Shocked and upset. I've a Z aorta instead of curved and two flaps on it instead of three. I knew nothing about this. X

Bellanonna Wed 17-May-17 14:14:59

Yes I agree with anno. They are proceeding with caution. Ooh those laxatives are horrible. Maybe good thing you're in a room on your own?. Up to page 12 of the Rubylady thread - how's that for popularity?? I'm enjoying all the jokes too.
I'm sure you're asleep now but hope you feel as well as it's possible to when you wake up. Also hope this procedure has determined the next step and that it will be carried out quickly. Lots of love and thinking of you.

Is "cherry tomato" a euphemism for something Ruby? For the life of me I cannot imagine why one would block a sink. Obviously haven't lived.

merlotgran Wed 17-May-17 13:09:24

All the best, ruby

rubylady Wed 17-May-17 12:53:16

I'm sat in my gown, but it really isn't my colour! grin

And for good measure I blocked the sink in my room with a cherry tomato last night!

Speak later buds Xxx

Yes - it is always frustrating in hospital that you cannot do the health things as you do at home. I too found it annoying in hospital that they would not acknowledge that I had spent 50 years dealing with my IBS and I know best what is needed and when. All that counts for nothing - they have their rules and that is that!

Hope the new investigation goes well - at least you know they are being methodical and thorough, which is very reassuring.

annodomini Wed 17-May-17 10:17:15

Thanks for the update, ann60. Ruby, hope they will be able to schedule the replacement once they have had another look at your heart. It seems they are proceeding with great caution which is as reassuring as it is frustrating. Good luck with today's job. xx

Auntieflo Wed 17-May-17 09:05:10

Ruby, best wishes for the procedure. Can't believe you have been in hospital over three weeks. I know what you feel about " doing it yourself" , still hey ho, you are being looked after and will soon be as good as new. flowers

annsixty Wed 17-May-17 08:44:56

This is yet another exploratory procedure to look at the heart valve, not the replacement she had been told would be next.sad

Greyduster Wed 17-May-17 08:31:04

Ruby I hope all goes well for you tomorrow. ??

harrigran Wed 17-May-17 08:15:42

Will be thinking of you Ruby, after today things should start to improve flowers

NfkDumpling Wed 17-May-17 07:42:03

Hope all goes well. We'll all be round for the champagne party afterwards - I hope your room is big enough.

kittylester Wed 17-May-17 07:34:55

At long last! I'm sure all will go well! brew

cornergran Wed 17-May-17 00:07:43

Doctor Doctor. I keep thinking I'm a pair of curtains. Pull yourself together.
Doctor Doctor. I think people are ignoring me. Next!
Doctor Doctor. My dog keeps digging up the garden. Take away his spade

rubylady Tue 16-May-17 01:07:59

Aw, brilliant messages and jokes there girls. Thank you. I appreciate the many flowers and wine, although after all this, I will get some champagne to celebrate with. I think I deserve it. I will share it with you all though, of course. (smile)

I've took some laxative all day (they only trust me with 10mls at a time), so now I am full of wind and my stomach feels empty. You are lucky to have access to your own food cupboards and fridges! I have had some toast, but I would have more at home to settle my stomach. But then I'd take more laxative in one go and be done with it. I got my first dose this morning. They don't listen to how you do things yourself.

So, I'm off to my private privvy. Please keep chatting to me, corny Tim Vine jokes and all, I love it. Thanks buddies. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

So funny, thanks for those.

Jalima1108 Mon 15-May-17 20:41:37

So I said to the gym instructor: 'Can you teach me to do the splits?' He said: 'How flexible are you?' I said: I can't make Tuesdays.'

I was reading a book... 'the history of glue' - I couldn't put it down.

So I got home, and the phone was ringing. I picked it up, and said 'Who's speaking please?' And a voice said 'You are.'

I was at sea the other day and loads of meat floated past. It was a bit choppy.

So I rang up my local swimming baths. I said 'Is that the local swimming baths?' He said 'It depends where you're calling from.'

I bought a train ticket and the driver said "Eurostar" I said "Well I've been on telly but I'm no Dean Martin? Still, at least it's comfortable on Eurostar, it's murder on the Orient Express...

I went to buy a watch, and the man in the shop said "Analogue." I said "No, just a watch."

I went into a shop and I said, "Can someone sell me a kettle." The bloke said "Kenwood" I said, "Where is he?"

So I went in to a pet shop. I said, "Can I buy a goldfish?" The guy said, "Do you want an aquarium?" I said, "I don't care what star sign it is."

I went down the local supermarket, I said "I want to make a complaint, this vinegar's got lumps in it", he said "Those are pickled onions".

So I told my girlfriend I had a job in a bowling alley. She said "Tenpin?" I said, "No, it's a permanent job."

Keep smiling, ruby. A clean toilet and hopefully your own television will make you the envy of the ward. You can invite lesser mortals in for a chat. I'm hopeless at jokes so won't even try. Thinking of you, hope things move forward very soon. flowers, brew and grapes smuggled wine. X
