I do love looking at the changes in names. Both my mother and her mother were called Phyllis and I sort of hope that doesn't come back but both had pretty second names, Emily and Daisy, which feel quite up to date.
In the 1920s there seemed to be trend to nicknames that stuck. I had an Uncle Bunny (Claude), an Uncle Mike (Victor) and an Auntie Girlie (Evelyn) and Dad was called Dodee. Mum was neither called Phyllis or Emily but Peggy!
Further back we have a bit of the family who all had biblical names Boaz, Ruth, Aaron and Moses and then, for no apparent reason (the King?) George. I do feel he was the lucky one.
The name that surprised me most when doing the bit of the family history I have managed to do was Susan. It is much older than I had thought and is quite recurrent in our history.
