Hay book festival in May, I have so far got tickets for Stephen Fry, Victoria Corin and Harriet Harmen

I make a great bara brith and am known in the family as the Welsh cake queen ,there will be ale in the Welsh Rarebit, as a child I got so cross when my mum made two seperate toast toppings, one with and one without the ale

ps don't forget the cheese please - I like Snowdonian Black Bomber and a bit of Caerphilly myself.

Also Jalima, if a Welshman is found within the city walls of Chester after 5 or 6pm, he can be hung, according to byelaws (and some claim not repealed).

Yes, as others have said. Just thought I'd check Wikipedia but it's not always right. Thanks Greyduster. Must say I'm surprised as have always thought it was part of England. Either way, I've often been there, love it, and the surrounding areas.

Hereford is the county town of Herefordshire.

jalima your geography is fine. Hay, despite being in Powys, uses Hereford as a postal address, in the main.

It's a Post Office anomaly.

I'll look at the map next time

We used to approach Hay via the Gospel Pass. I, too, believed it to be in Hereford.
