Take 5. Classic!

Chewbacca, we loved it there, our first daughter was born in the Victoria Hospital.

I remember the first Easter after she was born - February, my husband was working and I wanted to go to St Mary's for my Easter blessing so took the baby, all went well, I went up to the alter for communion and yes, she started , a very nice woman in a full length mink offered to hold her, ashamed to say my prayer at the alter was please don't her be sick over that fur of .lady .powys, she wasn't and we were invited back to the castle for lunch ?

immediately Take Five starts buzzing through my brain

I hope to get a ticket, have seen great musicians there over the years, even got introduced to Stephane Grappelli when he played there

Flippin 'eck annie! You just keep 'em coming don't you! You've met Stephane GrappellI? I love Stephane Grappelli! Got loads of his cds (and other jazz blues).
We used to play in the grounds of Powys Castle when we were kids. Did you ever go into the tea rooms in the town- The Spinning Wheel, I think it was? They were "connected" in some way to the Herbert's at the Castle.

I met Grappelli band a few more because my elder daughter was friends with the step daughter of George Melley, he lived here, come the Jazz festival he was very involved, I knew him because I use to pick my daughter up from his house, his wife would collect her daughter from our house, after the Grappelli concert George invited me back stage to meet him .

Whilst name dropping, met Salman Rhusdie , ? When he was in hiding he took a hoouse here , I was in thie co-op, he was too, and he helped me load my shopping into the car. Met Mel Gibson too, stepped on his foot

It isn't me, it's Wales, our mountains, rivers, canals bring people here , Melley was mad on fishing so bought his place here, Gibson was getting off a barge in the canal basin and I was walking backwards talking to my sister, a lot of large and small estates here , privacy etc, and the beauty of Wales.

Can't recall the name of the coffee shop sorry , we lived opposite to the side entrance of the castle, I use to walk daughter in pram through the grounds often , we didn't have a garden so I just popped across the road and used theirs , the deer were so beautiful , but very noisy at mating time ?

For Anniebach: just read that Rhossili Beach has been voted one of the best in the world, but I bet you knew that already . A friend introduced me to it a few years ago, it is indeed gorgeous and we were lucky when we went we had great weather too

Yep I knew that . It is beautiful isn't it ? When I stayed there - often - I loved going down onto the bay at night , tractor and trailor, the chaps would wade out to see with the net and the gals would check the net by torchlight when they dragged the net to shore, so pleased you liked it and the weather was good X

Anniebach WHERE ARE YOU? There is a film on tonight, BBC 2 10.40pm "Hunky Dory" set in a Welsh school during the 1970s. Essentially about a drama teacher trying to inspire a class of teenagers to perform The Tempest, to the music of David Bowie. I saw it a couple of years ago and thought it was good. When I saw it was on tonight I thought of you and wondered whether you have seen it. Just mentioning it, as this thread is dedicated to Wales and this film is intrinsically Welsh

I have just moved back to Wales after 60 yrs away. Best thing we ever did. Wonderful, friendly, interesting and intelligent people. We have had nothing but welcome from everyone. Plus peace and quiet and wonderful countryside.

We are off to Wales the end of next week - near Aberaeron. Bit of fishing, bit of walking, perhaps some dolphin watching, lots of pottering. Bliss! And call in on DH's family (affectionately known as The Tafia) on the way back!

Annie it matters not whether the sun shines or not - we will enjoy it! We have never been further up that coast than Cardigan so it will be an adventure. We will be passing Brecon so I'll give you a wave!

you will love New Quay and then to the Beacons, I hope they turn purple for you

I love Wales. Much of the scenery is breathtaking and so much of it is unspoiled. I have friends in Tenby and love visiting them. I have also spent many weeks (when I was younger) roughing it at Outward Bound type centres and YHs in various parts and have enjoyed all Wales has to offer. I quite like the rain too. Being somewhere remote, unspoiled and pretty, in the rain is lovely (for me) so I think Wales could be my spiritual home. My blood is Irish but I feel very at home in Wales too.

Visited Tredegar House today. The park was fabulous in the sunshine. Lovely day.
