Which is your favourite month?

Just out of interest do any GNetters favour November or January for other than it being a birthday or anniversary month?

March is my favourite because it's the month the clocks go forward - oh those wonderful lighter evenings after the darkness of winter! But also because the summer and all the (hoped for!) wonderful warm weather and sunshine is just around the corner, something to look forward to. The reality of summer is often a let down, so let me enjoy the spring when I can still have my hopes and dreams before they are dashed

Cherrytree59 although January is not my favourite month, that is April, I do like January as it means we are a very long way from the next bl...y Christmas.

September and early October. We seem to get a soft golden light in October. Not so keen on July August, they never seem to live up to the promise of 'outdoor living'.

Most have lovely things to enjoy. but hate November and January, and not till mid-February do I feel winter's at its end. If I had to choose, I think it would be May (birthdays of both DH and myself), early summer is in sight, longer days, green everywhere, not much likelihood of late frosts, so can hope to lick that b- garden into shape this year, two bank holidays when can face spring cleaning etc!

Cherrytree59 Easter is my birthday weekend too! But my 13 year old GD goes back to school on Easter Tuesday, which is my actual birthday, so no major celebrations on that day as she lives with me. I'm disappointed as it will be a Big Birthday (well, 65 ) and I like us to be away for my special day if possible.
I love April too with all the cherry blossom, daffodils, baby lambs and blue tits nesting in our box. We are off to the Lake District in early April though, so will get my fill of lambs and beautiful daffodils.

I don't have a favourite month, but I love the spring. Starts when I see the first snowdrop and from then on everything starts coming to life again. Glorious.

October for me, everything turns golden and mellow! Misty mornings followed by gentle sunshine....and my birthday month too!

I have two actually July my birthday month and October when my late son was born.october is such a beautiful golden month and have often been away on holidays in that month. My daughter said I am lucky to have a summer birthday. Well she was born in January

How poetic these posts are. The seasons clearly mean a great deal to many people. It s very pleasing to think of the joy the various months will bring, especially as so many threads on Gransnet are not so happy.

I coldn't really name a favourite month as they all have their highlights. January and November are probably the most wearing to the spirits with their unrelenting cold, darkness, fog and drear.

Probably May, so much blossom and everything so newly fresh and green.

I like certain things about every month, though, except January! So dreary, all the cheer of Christmas lights gone, still months of winter to get through.
But it usually goes pretty quickly and there are often some quite nice days even then.
One day in mid Jan locally there were a load of people sitting outside in the sun at lunchtime in the town centre, not unusual here. But then we are in relatively mild SW London.

MAY for me. It's all starting to happen big time with nature. The trees are leafed and freshness everywhere. Also the days are very long in light. It's also an indicator that there's plenty more to come before the dreaded winter. Not long now. However one joy of March is the we eventually get our beloved hour back. Hallelujah!.

Don't think i haves a favourite month - just don't much like February; it's SO dreary...

I love your evocation of the glories of each month, BRedhead and I also enjoy the seasons. The longer you live,the more each calendar month symbolises people you know and love. I used to dislike January( my birthday month) but now have two grandchildren born then so the month has a new charm. I still don't love November( yet).

However, March, as others have said, symbolises rebirth and anticipation, freshness, all that is to come...and greater light. It is the month at the very end of which DD1 was born. How glorious and energising this month is....so full of anticipation.

April, May, June and still lots of summer to come. Hate January and February - dreary wet and cold.

May, probably - for the same reasons as all you others have cited.

And yet....for me, happiness is - a fine, mild day in February down here in south west Wales when I first see snowdrops in the hedgerows open to the sun and know the worst of the winter is over.

June- my birthday month. Lovely long evenings & if it is hot it is a promise of things to come. Plus we are usually heading off to Greece for a couple of weeks to soak up the sun & I LOVE the heat.
Far less hectic than the next 2 months when the GC are on holiday from school & take up residence!

April ...

Absolutely love May.... everything's growing. People are cheerful. And my blackbird starts singing in the evenings.

Mine is also June, the garden is looking it's best, the pots of Summer plants are at their best too before the sometimes very hot, dry July. June isn't too humid and so nicer to be out and about looking after grandchildren four days a week. Roll on June!! But...... we are lucky with the weather today in Dorset, beautiful, playing in the garden and now grandchild is having her nap enjoying having the patio doors open while l have lunch in peace! Shhhhhhhh..........

June and also September ....sorry everyone, but living first in Menorca and now in a holiday region of France, Christmas, Easter and July and August are a nightmare with holidaymakers caravans, camping cars, cars, boats on trailers, etc etc .......I used to go on holiday but try not to make a nuisance of myself !!!!

I guess I should live up a mountain ...but then you have ski iers and climbers et al .......at least October (mostly) November , January and February are quiet and we can get to go out in peace !!
