Definitely a starling, a spiv of the bird world I think.
British starlings migrate to Africa in the Autumn I believe and those from colder northern climes come here for the winter.
I too remember how they would all come and eat every bit of food put out in the garden but I haven't seen any in my garden for years. As a child I would knock on the window to shoo them away but they'd be back in seconds.
I saw a lot in Lytham St Anne's about 3 years ago, they obviously know the posh places to hang around !!!!!
