For various reasons yesterday was stressful and in the evening I just lost it. Very very unusual for me. When I returned exhausted I made a meal for us both, then sat down to watch some items on TV, which I had been looking forward to. I could not get the remotes to work and asked OH what might be the problem (electronics is his hobby) and he announced that while I was out he had changed it all around and that in order to turn the TV on I needed to use 3 remotes in the right order, bend down (which I cannot do)and do something to an amplifier etc. etc. To my amazement I just burst into tears and stormed out of the room!
It is very stressful dealing with his various needs (he has PD) and I had not realised how much I enjoy the opportunity to relax in front of a nice programme. The thought that I would have to read a list he had compiled (illegibly - some people with PD cannot write properly) and go through a load of different operations before being able to do this, just felt like the last straw. Pitiful really.
And I finished up missing the programme I had been looking forward to because he was going through all this stuff.
I don't think the poor chap knew what had hit him. And neither did I. I am hoping that he will return it all to normal so that pressing the On button on the remote actually switches the TV on!
He has a room of his own full of electronic stuff where he does his tinkering and enjoys it - tinkering with my living room felt like a step too far.
There are days when I just feel that coping with his needs and idiosyncracies (anxiety, obsessional behaviour, heart scares, endless reminding to take tablets, refusal to go out etc.) feels like more than I can cope with. But I must get a grip as things are only going to get worse.
I think I am feeling particularly stressed as my hip is a big problem now and I am very worried that the scan (next Weds) will show infection, which will result in two lots of surgery (and I was very ill after the first time).
I know others have far worse problems and I do not usually have a melt-down; anyway, just venting on here. Sorry folks!
