I think it would have been ok just making it clear to the child that granny had tripped over and bumped her face and got a very big briuse, which will fade just like her bruises do.

Falling and getting bruises is what small children know about.

WITZEND i am sure your little one will have forgotten them, just keep her away from your ipad for a few days, when she does have it back make sure the first thing she can see is peppa pigsmile

I've had to hide all posts from one of my Facebook friends, wot, because of the graphic pictures of cruelty to animals she was posting every day.

I was in a "club" which was trying to save dogs from being eaten in China, etc. The photos they put on my Facebook page were so disturbing I had to tell them to stop sending them. I know we've got to face reality but I find these images very disturbing.

Oh, Witzend, what a shame, and upsetting for both of you flowers You handled the situation really well, and I'm sure your DGD will be comforted "knowing" that the poor lady is better now. I must say I'll be checking my own photos now before I let the little ones near my phone again.

She's 21 months, and loves looking at family photos on my iPad. I left her with it for 2 minutes while I went to the loo - she soon came running after me, saying, 'Oh, no! Oh, no!'
First thought was she'd dropped the iPad and broken it. No, somehow she'd managed to find two photos I took of my mother when she was in her 90s with advanced dementia, and had had a fall the day before. Almost her entire face was one big purple bruise - she looked as if she'd done 10 rounds with Mike Tyson. And TBH given her age and stage of dementia, she looked so pitiful even without the bruising.
I'd taken the photos while she was sleeping, so my siblings could see.
Poor little Gdd was quite upset even a few minutes after I'd 'hidden' them. I just kept saying she was a very poor old lady, but she's better now, she's all right now. (She died 18 months ago, at 97).

I think I'll have to delete them before letting little Gdd near the iPad again...
