Grumble.....difficul ties of having little feet.

I've always been a 3 moira, even when pregnant. Funnily enough though I am in the north of Scotland! Dd2 is just a 4 as is dil-both in Scotland!

I think shoe sizes may have changed slightly due to continental sizing.

Perhaps in these post-Brexit times we can revert back?

Katek - I'm curious whether you've always been a 3? I was 3 or 3 and a half as a teen and young adult. I went up to a 4 aged around 30 (not due to excess weight, I was skinny). Now I find I need 4 and half though, as Eloethan says, half sizes are hard to find. Hotter do half sizes but they tend to cater for wide feet and mine are quite narrow.
I've also heard that shoe sizes get smaller the further north you go and 3 or 4 are quite common in Scotland, though rare in the South.

We haven't a Clarks near here and I haven't been able to find any I like on line. I have occasionally been able to buy Gabor in my size but they are a bit expensive

I take size 2, used to be able to get away with 3 before the lasts were changed to correspond with continental sizes and now take size 35. I buy on line from pavers (shoe shop.com). I also buy when abroad. Italian and Spanish have very small sizes and can be reasonably priced. I find that most of the specialist small size shops in the U.K. are horrendously expensive.

Oh, I've always wanted dainty feet . My mum and sister were size 4 and mine just kept on growing, and growing. Size 7 and wide. I had many a remark about My Darling Clementine when I was a teen . One of my DDs takes size 4, the other a 6.

I went to the British Museum the other day and in a street nearby there was a business that specialised in shoes for size 3 feet and under. I expect they are expensive though. I can usually wear size 4 but sometimes the shoes are too big. Size 3 is too small, but it is difficult to get half sizes these days.

Katek there is a store in Ayr that sells a huge range of size 3 shoes. The shop is called jools, dont know if they do mail order but they do have a facebook page.

My Mum has size 3 feet, now she only wears slippers and very occasionally one pair of comfortable shoes. There are dozens of pairs, some still in boxes, waiting for me to do something with them.

My late mother was proud of her size 3 feet - regarded them as a sign of good breeding though we, her three daughters didn't inherit them! Mine are size 5 and square!

My granny would have died around 1916/17,also most of her little bits of jewellery disappeared into Auntie Selina's pockets, .( She was the auntie who brought mum and her sister up), so we have nothing but hearsay memories, not even a photo. But, it was a family tale that grandad did make ballet shoes for Anna Pavlova

Getting on - since you mention Doc Martens ... teenage DGD wears lovely DMs and I often wistfully admire them. She a very tall size 8 and has had shiny chestnut, black and white cartoons and, now, black 'marble'. I especially like the marble ones and might go and try a dainty pair after all!

My granny, who I never met, (she died when mum was 8) had small feet, 2.5 or 3, but grandad was a cobbler/shoemaker. She was frequently ill, so when she was well again, he would make her a pair of shoes, lovely. Pity I haven't inherited daintier feet, mine are 6.5 or 7, according to the make.

I'm a wide 3 with a high instep. I simply can't wear court shoes/heeled sandals (never have been able to).

It is a bit of a pita but I usually wear boots anyway. Kids' shoes are too narrow.

One thing that really bugs me about having small feet is that high heels make your feet look like pigs' trotters. There's less distance between the heel and the toe which creates a steeper incline. So high heels are pretty much out.

I'm going to collect a new pair of brogues in a wide fit from Clarks today.

At least small footed people can wear bikers, brogues and Doc Martens and look dainty small mercies.

Very wide size 2.5, with a high instep. I usually wear Ecco and also like Campers trainers and M&S boat shoes. I gave up on heels and glamour long ago!

I too take size 3, and struggle for shoes, I used to clean up in the sales with sample 3s but that was years ago, sample shoes went to 4s and now are probably 5 or 6. I stopped wearing children's/clothes when my daughter's friend said "I have that in pink". Have you also noticed that small sizes are usually on the top shelf and the large sizes are at ground level.
