Breakfast out

Oh yes .. and we're not young and trendy at all. It's just easier to find a day everyone can do if we meet earlier. And it means you don't need any lunch, unless DH comes in which case he eats a little breakfast when he gets up AND lunch when he gets home.

DD et al have just been over. First thing GS said - "Dad and I went out for breakfast this morning!" It's catching on!

Over 20 years ago I was a lollipop lady, and my morning stint ended at 9am. I had a 1 mile walk home, but on Fridays I`d go through town and treat myself to a cooked breakfast at a little café called The Buttery, and it was the highlight of my week! (sad, aren`t I?) I never cook breakfast, only have a proper breakfast when on holiday, so that once a week treat was exactly that, a real treat!

It's a very Aussie thing to 'do' brekkie. I love going out with the family when I'm there and sitting in a beach cafe watching all the goings on. I usually have eggs benedict, the children have pancakes and DD & SiL go for the full works. I have never gone out for breakfast in this country; it just isn't quite the same! Perhaps I should give it a go .... start a new trend ?

I love to "do" breakfast out too when on holiday, but I can't get over the fact that most places (in Devon, Cornwall) don't open for breakfast until 10am! In real life I've usually done half a day's work by then, so I find it too late to wait for the meal. Now if they opened at 7 am or even 8 am that would be different!
It sounds like I should try and make it "brunch," but I would still need to have something first thing i.e. breakfast.

I read somewhere that there is a trend now (I forget which country this referred to) to serve breakfasts all day. As some have said, it's cheaper than a lunch or dinner, and it's often just what you fancy - so why not?!?
