Yes to Gestetner, Romeo and also Banda machines - purple ink everywhere! Also, typing wax stencils using bright red correction fluid to cover any errors (which meant you couldn't hide the errors!)

Auntieflo! Yes! In nursery we had little campbeds. Each child had their own, with a little picture at the top of the bed to identify it - mine was a little blue car eith red wheels.

Wearing a smock-top, 28" flared "loon" trousers, so long they covered your platform shoes, and dark Mary Quant lipstick...thinking I was so cool!

Chilblains - ached when your feet and hands were cold, itched like crazy when they warmed up. I can remember rubbing my sparkly party shoes (with a crossed elastic to keep them on) together to try and get rid of the itch, the sound that made and the way it didn't help at all!

SeventhHeaven, I don't remember if we had pictures by our beds, but I'm sure that we also listened to the radio, maybe, Listen with Mother?

Not Listen With Mother AuntieFlo, but I do remember Watch With Mother, Andy Pandy and the Flowerpot Men in particular. Wearing liberty bodices in the winter! And wooly bonnets with a kind of metal headband in the front to keep them on, and two bobbles on a string attached to the crown - would bounce all over when you walk.

Sitting round the radio listening to the Archers (still do). Also listening to 'Journey into Space' as a family which sparked a life long interest in Space and Science Fiction. Also well remembered Sunday family listening were 'The Goon Show', 'The Navy Lark', 'Billy Cotton Band Show', 'Forces (and then) Family Favourites'. 'Childrens' Favourites' was on a Saturday I remember. Also so many other programmes too many to mention.

I remember my dad taking us out into the back yard at night to look up and watch the Sputnik going over. I still look out for the ISS and wave to the guys on board!

My dad taking me to the local shop on bonfire night to buy 5 bobs worth of fireworks. They were on an open shelf with different price labels and you picked the ones you wanted. The lady then popped them into a paper bag. When we got home dad put them straight into a biscuit tin.

Whilst on the subject of biscuits they were displayed in tin boxes with hinged glass lids. You picked the ones you wanted by lifting the lid and picking them out by hand....not necessarily clean hands lol. You could also buy broken biscuits by the pound. Even less hygienic as we children would rake around in the box looking for the best ones. Oddly we all survived eating the biscuits lol.

A time before selotape, wrapping parcels in brown paper, tying with string and putting sealing wax on the knots. I used to watch, fascinated, as mother held the red wax over the candle flame.

I used to work in a bank and we had to calculate buying and selling foreign currency by long division using pen and paper. Two people had to do it to make sure it was right.

A friend said to me how much she liked tights and would be sorry to have to go back to suspender belts and stockings.
We assumed tights were just a bit of fashion that would disappear.

I loved tying up parcels with knots learnt at Brownies, but just as I had perfected the art, along came Sellotape! What about flat irons, heated on a big appliance, for us to use in our laundry lessons. Thank goodness for steam irons.

I was a Brownie too and did learn all kinds of knots but DH is always scathing about my knots because I always do a Granny Knot.

Sitting on my gran's lap watching The White Heather Club and The 1 o'clock Gang.

Having my school scarf wound around the back of my head and over my nose and mouth to stop me breathing in heavy city fog while waiting for the school bus.

Every winter I developed a bad chest and the doctor always gave me the Linctus. Heaven knows what was in it but I must have drunk gallons of it when I was growing up.

Food was food and you didn't have to think about the salt, sugar, fat (various types), additives, calories etc. that we have to think about now.

Only rich kids got new bikes. I didn't know anyone who didn't ride a second, third, fourth, fifth hand model.
