to wear on Christmas day ?
I have a top I bought weeks ago that I've been saving. I'm not expecting any wearable presents.
Mum always liked a new apron for Christmas day, it was a bit of a tradition.

Lynnebo, that sounds fantastic! GrandMattie, sapphire and emeralds, WOW! Love those colours.

Blinko Tue 20-Dec-16 11:49:45

and sparkle tchgrin

I have the most amazing (imo!) skirt from Asda, shortish, black but sequins in silver and gold on the front. Looks fantastic worn with black. Not just imo either. I wore it to a Christmas lunch with DB and SiL a couple of weeks ago and they were bowled over too. Sorry, I like glitter! grin

Craftycat Tue 20-Dec-16 11:33:16

Oh yes- have to something sparkly for Christmas day!!
This year I bought a sparkly top with mistletoe on it from Not on The High Street. Can't wait to wear it but it may be a bit too hot to wear all day so I have a lighter one put by just in case but I really want Carerof123's top!!! Sounds gorgeous- I love jewel colours.

Lynnebo Tue 20-Dec-16 11:31:39

Thank you! ?

grandMattie Tue 20-Dec-16 11:04:42

Had a new dress last year, sapphire/emerald swirls.
Bought a rather nice cream jumper with gold robins on it at Asda. Didn't cost a fortune and is cheerful. Shall wear that when the DGC come. Bit of fun. tchgrin
My policy these days for clothes is 1 in 1 out, or vice versa... the charity shop benefits and i have a new wardrobe constantly!

Mauriherb Tue 20-Dec-16 11:03:22

We're all going for the Christmas jumper this year. All for charity, bit of a laugh but I'll probably get too hot

GrandmaL Tue 20-Dec-16 10:49:12

Wow well done Lynnebo!

Lynnebo Tue 20-Dec-16 10:38:06

Lost 3 and a half stones this year and dropped from a size 20 to 14 so everything in my wardrobe is new!!!
I had a swing type dress from M&S in black and electric blue that I bought for my Youngest son's wedding two years ago. I cut the top of and made a very elegant full skirt that I will wear with a strappy black top and a fine lace black cardigan. No cooking for me this year - off to DD's for dinner ?

henetha Tue 20-Dec-16 10:35:34

No, I never buy anything new in the run up to Christmas, for financial reasons! But if all is well (financially speaking)after Christmas then I enjoy going round the sales in January and buying a couple of things. It's something to look forward to in the dreariest month of the year.

marionk Tue 20-Dec-16 10:31:32

Beautiful new red jumper dress to wear with black leggings and pumps so hope its a cool day or I will have a face to match ?

Tina21 Tue 20-Dec-16 10:27:12

I have given up on planning new clothes for Christmas. I spend the day cooking and Grandchilding. I'd rather not spend my time worrying about getting grubby.

blueberry1 Tue 20-Dec-16 10:04:36

A pair of sparkly black trousers,a black top and kimono with pink sparkle running through-all bought in sales especially for Christmas.Don't know when I will wear them again though!

SusieB50 Tue 20-Dec-16 10:01:59

Nothing new - can't find anything I like anymore in the shops . I will probably wear an old favourite red top and black trousers. Need to keep cool as we are all 15 of us at my 94 year old mum's who can't travel anymore ,I'm cooking Christmas dinner with "help"' from everyone . The house is large and Victorian with a cooker to match ! But with us all there and the heating pumping out to keep Mum warm I would expire in a woolly Christmas jumper. Sad as this will probably her last Christmas .Mind you we've said this for the past 5 years !

I have just cut the top of a lovely plum coloured velvet evening dress, essential for another life, put some elastic around the top and yeah a lovely skirt which I will get a lot of wear out of. I have just worn it with a raspberry coloured top from the depths for our Christmas apero do. Looked and felt good. I will wear it on Christmas Day with some other top retrieved from the past. Best advice I was once given when having my colours done, was ifyoulike and it's your colour then buy it, it will always coordinate with other things.

Theoddbird Tue 20-Dec-16 09:59:06

I bought a gorgeous mustard jumper to wear Christmas Eve at a family meal in a restaurant. I never wear jumpers but it was perfect with the skirt I was wearing at the time. Oh and it was half price...hahaha

Christmas Day I am spending alone...think I will buy some new PJ especially for that smile

Legs55 Tue 20-Dec-16 09:56:39

I have a choice of 2 sweaters - 1 with sequins worn once or new M & S Sweater, either one worn with my favourite Jeggings, going to DD's so Jeans are the order of the day. Looked for a Winter/Christmas Sweater but didn't see anything I likedtchhmm

GrandmaL Tue 20-Dec-16 09:38:28

We always have to wear something new to church and for Christmas, a family tradition! But it's usually new socks or underwear these days! DH has given up buying me clothes
( never fit!) but I still buy one or two new items for both DDs and DGC.

Teetime Tue 20-Dec-16 09:37:30

I have a new velvet dress from East in a dusky mauve colour which is a bit big as I have lost weight so I may wear my slouchy velvet trousers and a champagne coloured sparkly jumper from Monsoon. We like to dress well but be comfortable too. DH has asked me to pick out a shirt for him!!!

DanniRae Tue 20-Dec-16 09:27:05

I had my Christmas Day outfit all planned - nothing new, I might add. THEN I was at my eldest daughter's home and spotted a black, sparkly cardigan hanging up. "That's lovely", I said. "You can have it" she said "It's too big for me" (why had she bought it??). Anyway it fitted me and I liked it on me (a rarity) so I have a new (to me) cardie to wear - with black t-shirt and trousers - and I am delighted tchgrin

Jan51 Tue 20-Dec-16 08:44:16

Bought a new christmas t shirt, black with father Christmases all over it. I shall wear that with jeans. Can't wear jumpers unfortunately as I get too hot.

Lisalou Tue 20-Dec-16 07:46:15

Carerof123, any chance of a picture of you in your glamorous top? Sounds rather interesting!
I will be in leggings and jumper (very casual our end) as I will be in the kitchen. I have a feeling that one of the Christmas Elves will be giving me a new apron which I spotted in IKEA so that will be my new thing for the day as it will be donned immediately as I head for the kitchen after opening pressies!!!!

Shanma Tue 20-Dec-16 00:04:01

Jeans and whatever top, same as every other day of my life hmm

carerof123 Mon 19-Dec-16 20:40:16

I bought a beautiful velvet top with three quarter length sleeves in what i call jewel colours. Ruby red, teal green, hot mustard and emerald green. I know it may sound awful but it looks stunning and very festive. I will wear on Christmas eve with black trousers for a gathering. It is a Per Una top which i found in an Age Uk charity shop and a bargain at 3.50. Even the lady at the till cast envious eyes upon it when i went to pay for it. She said I wish I had seen that those are the colours i love to wear, so bright and cheerful!!!! lol

Coolgran65 Mon 19-Dec-16 20:21:14

Nothing new - but will wear M & S black cord velvet leggings and flat suede pumps with one of my many knitted tunic dresses - suitably comfy and with a scoop neckline so I'm not overcome with heat.
