DH Christmas present cancelled!

Sadly this appears to be becoming much more prevalent. My other half ordered, the money was taken out of our account the same day; when he rang 3 weeks later to see where it was, it was out of stock and would be about 6 weeks. They were surprised when he cancelled the order and demanded his money back. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the level of service received, it took longer for them to refund the money than to take it.

No stamina, but more money than sense. Especially as whenever i saw him, he was driving an old van.

I had a friend who ordered a new Rolls Royce. After his initial choice of model, over 6 months he got a sequence of brochures etc so that he could select colours, then leather, cut glass for drinks cabinet etc (it was in the 60's). I think he wished he hadn't bothered in the end.

Red for reverse seems wisest!

I don't really know about these things as we have an automatic but I am sure they would let you two knobs, one for forward and the other for reverse? Then you could have a different colour for each, what do you reckon? Seems reasonable to me with that sort of price tag!

So I am not the only one! I suppose it is a problem which is bound to happen when selling on the internet as you just can't predict how things will sell.
One of DH's friends is kindly going to take me, on Tuesday morning, to a shop where he thinks they will have what I was trying to get so hopefully all will be well. Cutting it a bit fine though and it is bloomin' difficult when you aren't as mobile as you would like.

I do understand why some people enjoy arranging everything in advance, but really, how much of the year do you want to dedicate to Christmas? I feel one twelfth is quite enough, so what can't be done in December can't be done.

What a pain . . . I've received all but one gift now (one of DH's stocking fillers), but at least everyone has something to open on the day itself.

give him an IOU and tell him what happened ,most of us would understand that things can go awry at Christmas time.I buy VERY early as I like everything wrapped and llabelled by the end of November ,my son hasn't learned from me though,he called last night to see if I'd be around to take an overnight delivery for him today! I did tell him that Christmas falls on the same date every year so he should be more organised next year ...lo

How annyoying and frustrating synonomous

harrigran don't get me started on the 'post' again. I'm sick and tired of the general inadequacies of the Royal Mail and Post Office Services or whatever they call themselves these days.

Post is really silly at present, I have had a card this morning that has taken six days to arrive. Friends could have walked and delivered the card faster and they live in Glasgow.

If you can find something similar on Amazon, and don't mind using them, you have the option to pay extra for 1 day or next day delivery. I ordered something last Friday and received it on Sunday morning.
I hope you manage to find a solution.

I had the same message from Debenhams about a present for one of the grandchildren. My DiL went on their website and ordered the same thing and they delivered it.
How about buying a silly something and giving a voucher for a surprise in the hope that you can get the item after Xmas?

We had a similar thing with a present for DGD. Turned out it was coming on a ' slow boat from China'. There was no indication when we placed the order that this was so. We cancelled and found a UK alternative

Is there any way to post a blistering review of the retailer? This sort of thing is just not on, esp. at this time of year.

Good idea teetime, very disappointing though synonymous, one of the drawbacks of on line shopping. I have been lucky with it this year but have had problems before.

syn that is disappointing can you quickly arrange something like a treat/vouchers/subscription to something but tell him the real present will still come but a bit later.

John Lewis have let me down twice recently like this. The first time was a mobile which I eventually cancelled and now this week a new oven. I was supposed to get it last week but now it will be Dec 30th. My present oven works but with a door which won't close properly. However I can use it so will wait until then.

Not what you want to hear! Finding the right present is hard enough.
