Christmas Cards

I still send them to all family, friends and acquaintances. DH and I don't send to each other any more we though that was silly. They all go in the recycling bin afterwards so I'm not worried about waste.

I have cut right down how many I send, I no longer send to people I don't have contact with at any other time.
Many years back my Nan received a card that had nothing written in it, she only realised it was from her cousin in Wales by deciphering the post mark. They laughed about it when they spoke to each other. So the following year she sent it back to Wales, again nothing on the card. That card went back and forth every year until the cousin died, so it travelled a lot of miles lol.

I generally send to family, friends and a few of our neighbours. It's only a matter of a couple of dozen each way. Sadly, every year we seem lose someone off the list; that's life I suppose. DH and I don't send cards to each other. One set of neighbour's with whom we exchange cards are a lovely young couple across the road, but though I can remember her name I can never remember his and I'm too embarrassed to admit it and ask. (We've been feeding their fish for three years whenever they go away and I still can't call him by his name). I like to put names on cards otherwise it seems a bit arbitrary.

I do send to family and close friends and those old friends for whom this is the only way we now keep in touch. I send e-cards (Jacquie Lawson) to those I sing with as there are so many that I could not possible do cards for them all.

Never mind a card that was never signed.......we got an envelope in the post a few days ago with nothing at all in it, and first class post paid too!

We post about 25 cards and then another 12 to neighbours, plus all the family ones( who live locally) I don't really like ecards though usually get about three of them.

We send and receive cards, a little less each year. I love getting them so will continue to send.

I wonder how many men do the card writing? I get asked whether I've sent them.....no have you? I made a start today!

A ffew years ago I rebelled at the whole business of Christmas and a lot of other stuff too - but that's another story - and "lo and behold" OH took on the task of writing the cards to help me with Christmas chores. He has done this ever since. I do, however, now choose and buy the cards that he sends, as he was of the 50p for 100 cards bargain deals and I was not happy to have my name on those! Snob I am.

However this has worked well for me as I just write only a few cards (chosen with care) to my nearest and dearest - He is happy in the sure knowledge that he has saved me a great deal of work at Christmas and he buys the beer too - I am so truly grateful to him and remember to say "thank you" every year ( a number of times - until he gets fed up and accuses me of being sarcastic! - who Moi? as if).

I am like Teetime. I send then to family friends and acquaintances. It is a good way of keeping in touch with people who you would have in your close friendship circle if they lived nearer and over a long period people drift close, then away and then close again and you never know when or how.
