I didn't visit my mum today.....

My MIL has advanced Alzheimers, bedridden with everything that goes along with that, lies with her eyes closed. She's been like this for at least 8 years now.

But hold a piece of chocolate in front of her, and she opens her mouth like a baby bird

They really are enigmas, these long-suffering mothers.

Or our children are doomed, nfk!

I remember my mum saying similar things about my DGM when she went into a care home - she didn't get the bugs that were doing the rounds - then it all happened to her and now I have this horrible nightmare that we're all going to turn into our mothers. I look like mine I know - I fear looking in the mirror these days!

Kitty do stay away from your mum until the norovirus has left the inmates. My sister had something similar when she came to stay with me. Our best efforts of keeping everywhere clean and sanitised didn't work for me and I caught it too - absolutely dire.

Your Mum is made of strong stuff.

BlueBelle, my mum has been in hospital for the past two Christmas/New Year. After her last stay, the hospital referred her back to the gp, suggested that we shouldn't put her back into hospital and should let nature take its course. My brothers and I have been on tenterhooks ever since.

Kitty my mum was a little bit of a hpercondriac she always seemed worried about her health after she got alzheimer and couldn't remember to worry she became the healthiest person in the residential home For the seven years she lived with dementia she was on NO medication what so ever and whatever bug went around the home she was the only one who never got anything she lived to 90 God bless her I miss her and Dad so much
