My son in law's safe return from a 7 month deployment - I shall sleep better at night now.

For some time now I've been feeling very fragile as there are currently a number of worrying/upsetting family circumstances to be navigated. It has meant me being away from home on a regular basis to care for a relative (not my mother for those of you who have been following that particular saga) and I'm fairly tired out. So, I have given myself a little talking to and decided that instead of dwelling on the negatives I should be counting my blessings and having my son in law home safely is definitely that!

So, what in particular are you grateful for?

That the rash 10 month old DGS had yesterday turned out to be nothing serious. A worrying time last night.

That DH's horrendous eye infection is now responding to treatment. He's not easily rattled but I think it had him worried. Doc didn't know what could have caused it. So glad your s-i-l is home safe, grannya - hope you now have a relaxing run up to the festive season.

That lovely sickle moon in a clear sky - beautiful.

Our friend surviving a horrific accident.

I can understand your relief ga!

We've had a trying few days one way and another but, today, I'm grateful that I still have my lovely DH. DD2's FIL died yesterday aged just 58. Also for the chance to see DD3 and DGD3 - I am so fortunate that they live close enough to be able to pop over. Added to which, I'm having lunch with DD1 tomorrow.

I'm definitely counting my blessings

That we're staying at home for Christmas. The dogs won't have to go into kennels, we'll be sleeping in our own bed and there will be no long drive in horrible traffic/weather.

Tomorrow evening I'm narrating our annual Nativity Experience where hundreds of people come to 'Bethlehem' to visit Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus. Our planned 'baby Jesus' is poorly, but happily we had a second baby lined up and the 'show' will go on! So, I'm still counting my blessings. tchsmile
p.s. glad to hear what others are grateful for.

I am grateful for the 38 years I had with DH. It would have been our anniversary today and I am trying to look on the positive rather than the negative side. I am also grateful that in 2 weeks my DD,SiL and gc's will be arriving from Oz and we will all be together for a big family Christmas. The excitement is mounting..... so many things to be grateful for especially when hearing the daily news of war, famine, illness and disaster

Marelli Fri 02-Dec-16 06:13:40

Marmight, some flowers for you. x
I'm grateful that my DD has met a lovely lady who she will go to live with at the end of the year. She will be living in Limerick, and I will miss her so much, but her happiness and knowing that she is being loved and cared for, is all I want.

I have several friends who are widows, and I read the posts of many on here. So I am grateful I still have DH and that we are both in reasonable health. Also that my DGD no1 , who has had such a bad time with friends at school is now getting some help.

I am grateful for my DH of 45 years, DS safely back from China. That we have a warm house, which reminds me it is the time of year we contribute to the charity for homeless young people. I am truly blessed particularly when I read of some of the situations GN members are in.

I'm grateful for the grandchildren I have left.

Bellasnana Fri 02-Dec-16 08:43:11

At present I'm back in my old hometown, Chester, and am overwhelmed with gratitude for so many wonderful friends who have made time for me. It has been a very humbling experience.

That I haven't been called back for an urgent hysteroscopy- seems I can be put on the 'routines' list - I take comfort from that.

I'm grateful that I have a loving family and that I get to see them often. Never take it for granted.

That my DH is in remission from cancer smile

NanaandGrampy Fri 02-Dec-16 12:18:42

Glad to hear of his safe return GA . As an ex military family I know it's an amazing feeling when they return safe and sound .

So I'm grateful for your good news.

And I'm grateful for my DH of 40 years , for all he is to me and all he does for me . And I'm grateful for a warm and loving family both near and far. Reading some of the sad ,sad stories of estrangement and anger make me grateful every day that it's not me or mine .

EEJit Sat 03-Dec-16 09:17:45

That my test for bowel cancer came back negative.

Lupatria Sat 03-Dec-16 09:32:33

i, too, am grateful to be alive!
i'm also grateful for my daughter, son, daughter in law and four lovely grandaughters.
i'm grateful that i'm able to see, hear and speak and, although painful right now, that i'm able to walk and get things done.
i'm also grateful that i actually do have enough money to celebrate christmas, easter, birthdays and treating people [and myself].
however i'm not grateful for the current cold snap - HATE being cold!

janeayressister Sat 03-Dec-16 09:34:17

I am grateful for good health. That my DIL has stopped being so sick with her first child. That people are responding to the Conference that I foolishly have organised ( why didn't I keep my mouth shut)
That at last we have a date for returning to my wrecked home which was flooded last December. What a terrible year we have had but now can see some light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you thankyou.
