plastic £5 notes

The insulation in my loft is made from recycled plastic bottles. It's better to put down than the normal glass fibre stuff.

Does anyone know what happens to the old fivers?
I've only had one new one so far, and I put it into the charity box in the place I got it from. Haven't seen one since.

I don't think people should make fun of vegans and vegetarians because of their views on this. They obviously feel strongly about it and find the whole idea abhorrent.

I am not a veggie or vegan myself so that is not why I am saying this, although I eat very little meat, and if I lived alone the meat would go the same way as the TV...out of the door and out of my life.

Most sheep do 'self-shear' in the sense that their fleeces fall off or get rubbed off naturally except where there has been breeding to prevent this.

Same with deer: their winter coats are different from their summer coats.

I think people should be allowed to make fun of whatever they want to make fun of. Of one's convictions can't stand up to mockery they're duff convictions.

Youse're all free to mock my conviction that red meat is bloody good food and that I think the current fad to be anti-meat is daft.

This reminds me of an episode in 'Victoria' which was on tv recently where a servant changed all the wax candles for tallow candles when many guests were coming to the palace for a ball. The smell was awful, apparently.
Although I don't know if that was fact or fiction.

I suppose the poor had to use tallow candles before the advent of gas or electric lighting - beeswax would have been too expensive.
The alternative was spermaceti wax.

My Hindu/ vegetarian friend said that she was ok with the fivers, in her opinion only a Janeist would mind.
Animal products are in so many things, that if you really mind you would have to go in-depth to avoid them ( tyres and computers!)
If the makers of the money can find a vegetable extract that does the same job though, then they should do.
