What is it that makes YOU feel that you have reached old age?

I know I have reached old age as I have started to wear slippers in the house and actually look forward to putting them on. Until recently when I bought new sandals the old ones would go be used as house shoes.

When I declined an invitation from my 20-something niece to come to a gig (she plays bass guitar in a band).

I've always worn slippers in the winter and flip flops indoors in the summer. So does D, so not an age thing ann
H and I enjoy documentaries on TV. I can remember when I was still living at home, thinking my parents were the most boring old foggies for watching that type of programme.

When my children and grandchildren look horrified when I say we don't have Netflix. Don't understand the social media thing apart from Gransnet obviously. My daughter said she knew she was getting older when she bought shoes because they were comfortable and not what they looked like.

I'd agree with the documentaries thing and also 'needing' a cuppa!

I would only wear slippers when I get up. During the day I wear old ballerina shoes. As I type this,my feet are freezing, so it serves me right.

What makes me feel old is the unbearable noise from tv audiences during the Strictly get me out of the X factor shows.

Seeing barely dressed young girls out clubbing in the middle of winter is another.

I agree, unbearable noise in all sorts of places, including the cinema.
Seeing schoolgirls with skirts up to their bottoms or tight ( and I mean tight) black jeans/jeggings ( this is obviously acceptable schoolwear now).
Putting on cosy slippers.
Rushing to take my bra off after an evening out! ( for comfy rather than amorous reasons.)
Not knowing what is in the TOP 20

Oh, I agree about the cinema! Why on earth does the sound have to be so LOUD??

Wearing an apron whilst cooking(my Nan rarely took hers off!) I keep realising the song I know all the words to is over fifty years old. My daughter (in her late thirties) is forcing herself to listen to Radio 1 as listening to Radio 2 will make her middle - aged ?

Asked by staff in a supermarket if I need, not want, help with packing.

People who do not know me amazed that I am not indoors all day watching daytime TV.

Asked in my GP surgery (not by GP) If I could wash and dress myself!!!

Getting excited about putting my PJ`s on at 7 pm and being so comfortable in them . At one time I would be getting ready to go out clubbing . Listening to Smooth radio in the car , giving unasked for advice to the young'uns about wearing a coat when going out . The list is endless ..

Realising that no bus, tube or train is worth running for.

Also wearing trainers to go for a walk (I would never have worn trainers in my youth) and slobbing around the house in 'comfy' clothes.

The dreadful music played in shops. I used to like singing along, now I don't know any of the ? songs. Being grateful that a young man gave me his seat on the bus, now that did make me feel old.

The other day I was trying on a pair of boots (using the shop's long handled shoe horn) when I found myself watching and eavesdropping the two ladies, who were about my age, sitting opposite me. One was helping her friend try on some ankle boots with zips at the side. Four or five pairs later they were still struggling and getting exasperated when her foot just 'wouldn't go in.'

Finally they succeeded and the helper, who I think had had enough, stood back and admired the boots, telling her friend they really suited her.

The friend replied, 'So what am I supposed to do....Ring you up every time I want to wear these dratted boots?'

Definitely when you see young people without a coat on whilst you're wrapped up in at least 5 layers

I haven't actually reached old age ? But agree with everyone about the awful music they play. I don't know what drop box means, or many other techy innovations. I've no idea who most "celebrities" are, or who has got married/divorced to/from whom. I wear socks around the house, haven't progressed to slippers yet. On the whole I think I just don't feel aware of age, apart from the aches and pains we are not to mention. So in a way it hasn't really happened in my own mind, but I'm sure people around me would think differently. One good thing, both daughters say I'm not elderly, though little grandson says I'm very, very old. Ah, who cares?

Oh Waveney I have always worn an Apron when cooking and /or cleaning, have dine since my twenties so that doesn't make me feel old. That's a funny story Merlot

Reminds me of something I heared in Asda some years ago, nothing to do with old age, but made me laugh. I was looking at underwear and there was a couple there probably in their forties or so, a bit rough looking and loud. She was very big breasted, and was looking at plain ish bras will presumably good support. Her other half held up a very pretty and sexy bra. She took one look at shouted " Who's gonna pick my bloody Tits off the floor if I wear that??" You should have seen his face.
