Is it an 'age thing' that in your late sixties or early seventies you realise you don't need to keep everything/stuff for your descendants? I am getting rid of things to charity shops, shredding papers, clearing garage. It' really quite sad to admit that the ornaments, books etc, things we treasure, will not be appreciated by our children or grandchildren. When my mum died and we had to clear her house, we realised we had no room to keep a lot of things, much as we would have liked to do. We had no room. Why do we hoard so much? Is this a normal feeling to clear out as we get older, something like the opposite of 'nesting' when we are going to give birth?
