I live near Middlesbrogh and have been to the Cleveland centre many times and would call it a mall!

There is a wonderful Christmas advert this year for Heathrow Airport.

It's on You Tube, but I'm sorry that I can't provide the link. It's called Coming Home and features 2 teddy bears returning home to the airport and is absolutely adorable if you like teddy bears as much as I do.

I've found a version of the meeting without the musical overlay. It made me smile because the Middlesbrough accent is subtitled. Probably more for an overseas audience than the hard of hearing

Our shopping precincts/centres are quite small and it would be rather pretentious to call them malls!

I don't understand the confusion. Am I the only one who can clearly hear a mum and a Santa each with a Middlesbrough accent? What's American about the background noise?

Do we call them 'malls' in this country? Anyway wherever it was, it was wonderful that the little girl could communicate with Santa in that way.

The heart-warming moment Father Christmas communicated with a three-year-old girl using sign language has been captured on film.

When Mali Williams-Cody sat on Santa's knee at Middlesbrough's Cleveland Centre, her mother explained she couldn't talk very well.

Undeterred, Father Christmas asked: "Can she sign at all?"

When Mali's mother said she could do basic sign language, the pair began a memorable exchange, reminiscent of the 1994 movie "Miracle On 34th Street" when Richard Attenborough's character communicated through sign with a little girl.

Mali was clearly delighted and the clip has been viewed more than 230,000 times on YouTube

Yes, I thought it was somewhere in Cleveland but when I listened more carefully I think it must be Cleveland, Ohio.

Still wonderful for that little girl though, wherever. Perhaps Santa will come to shopping Malls in the UK afterwards
