Xmas jumpers - what do you think?

I went out for a Christmas 'get together' lunch yesterday and wore my Christmas jumper. It was so comfortable to wear (lovely soft wool), not too hot, much admired and I was so happy that I had worn it! So if anyone on here has bought a Christmas jumper and is unsure about wearing it I say "Go For It"

I agree that everyone on here buying a xmas jumper is doing it for fun and that's the way it should be. It's not to be taken seriously. Girls Night out, work, ladies who lunch - just a bit of fun. If you are going out on xmas day to friends and relatives and you are not cooking, then great, that's the time to dress up. The ladies who wear these jumpers can have a laugh at themselves and the youngsters can see the older generation are not always fuddy duddys

WOW Ana - I did it !!

I shall be wearing a black, sparkly top (from M and S) on Christmas Day- don't have to worry about being hot because my eldest daughter is cooking! I am doing Boxing Day dinner for 11 people. Much easier though - cold meat, mash, pickles etc and I will be wearing a cool, loose (cold shoulder) top because I know I will still get hot (and bothered).

I love them! I don't care if they look silly- surely that is part of the appeal?

I'm in a panic now, I don't have a nice dress and have thrown out my high heels.

I would wish everyone had someone like her. She has hosted every Christmas apart from when the GCs were born. I make the Christmas pudding and take it over in advance, everything else she does. It is so lovely (sorry)

morethan2 oh that 4 letter word-work! Forgotten all about that (sorry). I also have a wonderful DIL who likes to cook Christmas dinner. I can dress up and enjoy myself. (The heels do come off usually just after I arrive.) It took a long time to be able to do this, it's such a pleasure after years of cooking.

trisher ours are bought by colleagues to wear at work over the Christmas period. You get a prize for buying the worst one. I agree I couldn't wear mine while spending almost half the day cooking in a hot kitchen. I couldn't wear high heels either. I always think it would be lovely to dress up for Christmas Day but between cooking, trying to join in the excitement with the children I'm just not organised enough to get dressed up. Following dinner I practically pass out with a glass of somthing while the menfolk take care of the clearing away. When do the rest of you wear yours?

I don't like them, over priced and unnecessary in my opinion, but if people want to spend their cash on them that's their decision. Personally on Christmas Day I like to dress up, nice dress, (floaty, bit hippy really), sparkly tights, high heels, bit of jewellery. I don't want to wear an itchy,sweaty jumper.

It went back I liked the embroidered baubles, but would have preferred a looser more "tunic" style, perhaps with side slits which IMHO would have looked dressier. Ah well, win some, lose some.

For those of us who get too hot on Christmas Day I saw some Christmas tee shirts at Asda today.

I went shopping yesterday and Christmas jumpers are in EVERY shop that sells clothes. They all look so festive and cheerful I had trouble not buying myself one - just as well as I already have one but mine is a bit 'low key'. Don't think I can justify two though.

Witzend SNAP I got the red Rudolph one which plays Rudolph's signature tune in ASDA yesterday for DH. I shall give it to him tomorrow for his birthday. He can wear it to his birthday tea, then the Wee Steel Band's Christmas Party and also when 'helping' in the Pop Up Christmas Shop. Dates have worked in our favour this year as the big town centre light switch on is also tommorow. We will time it so that they light-up just as the Birthday Boy arrives

The tasteful one is going back - BORING!

Well, I went a bit mad at local big Asda - got a red Rudolf one as joke birthday present for brother with bday on the 21st. He will happily wear such things for a laugh - my dh never would. Then I got one for very little Gdd, a navy one for myself, and a sweatshirt with kissing polar bears as fun present for niece who'll be visiting from the US. I did run it past her mother first! We are not doing any big presents and since it was only £12 and rather nice, and I was racking my poor brains...

Maybe too tasteful? Perhaps I should go for the reindeer with the light up nose or the Santa in his boxers ??
