Xmas jumpers - what do you think?

Our family tradition is that we all have Christmas Pyjamas, delivered on Christmas Eve to be worn o'night and in the morning when we gather at our house for present opening and brunch. Don't know/don't care what the neighbours and passing traffic thinks when 2 car loads of DDs and DGC arrive in cosy, cuddly PJ's and Santa Hats

I got a lovely one for £10 from garden centre - white and fluffy with big silver star, lovely for winter walks but too warm for house. I have an elf style t shirt from supermarket which always gets a laugh!

haha some are so judgmental about other's jumper choices. My girls all have one or two bought very cheaply in charity shops. They're a bit of fun and don't hurt anyone so why not.

I think a Christmas jumper day in school is a nice idea - they don't need to be bought new - and a sensible school will keep some spares so no-one need go without.

I have seen quite a few Christmas t shirts this year and they would probably suit?

Last year I knitted one with a huge Christmas pudding on it with two big pompoms for holly berries on top. Everyone laughed heartily at me but then the orders started coming in. Will you make one for me aunty? I'll have one please grandma. I'll have a reindeer, and I'll have a Santa and I'll have..... I protested that the shops were full of them but for once in their lives all my family wanted handknits. Even DGD aged 18 months had an order in for a penguin with a pompom tail at the back. I know they'll only be worn for a few days a year but year on year until the fad fades. I love it.

Noticed a really good one in a charity shop window display yesterday. Got home and found a message about a Xmas party asking people to wear Xmas jumpers. So I'll go and see if it's still there. I'm sure the grandchildren will be very impressed with me. As others have said, it's just a bit of fun.

Not got a Christmas jumper but have purchased some festive scarfs with santa on for this year

My son and daughter in law are having both families round for Christmas day and have asked us all to wear Christmas jumpers. I got mine from soi dog rescue so that I am helping the dogs and keeping the family happy at the same time

Bonne marche sell lovely Christmas t shirts . I have 2 or 3 from last year.

I am envious of all you lucky grans who have the unimaginable (to me) bliss of overheating by the donning of a single jumper! My entire winter is a multi, multi, multi layered nightmare!

Primark have more adult Christmas jumpers than kids' ones. I thought it was odd but now presume it has to do with workplace parties. I wanted a Christmassy jumper for a two year old for a seasonal photograph at his nursery but didn't want to pay a huge price for something worn for such a short time. Perhaps it's a bit early yet. We made do with a starry jumper he can wear all winter.
I have a green sparkly cardigan and a Christmas red cardigan which both come out for Christmas week but that's as far as I will go though I like to see them on the youngsters or anyone confident enough.

I love it Lona...where did you get it? Just the job. I've spoiled more silk shirts, velvet skirts, good trousers, smart dresses, new slippers etc. With the likes of turkey fat and other spillages and spatter to wear nice things on Christmas day.

I feel they are a bit of a waste of money for the amount of time you wear them. I'd rather buy something bright/shiny but not particularly Christmassy that I can wear on other occasions.

Christmas jumpers/T-shirts are not my thing, but have no objection to others wearing them. I personally dislike wearing anything with a picture or message on it - always think it's a bit naff. I don't even like wallets which tell you where to put 'Stamps' etc. I must be an anarchist at heart....

Cannot think of Christmas jumper without 'Bridget Jones' springing to mind. Harmless fun. Family traditions and all that. PS I don't have one neither does anyone else - not in my family tradition. But the Christmas aprons, oven gloves and everything else comes out in my house.

Though I don't possess a festive sweater myself, I think they are a bit of fun and love to see people wearing them.

And this is a bit off-topic, but DH came home last year with the cheapest, nastiest and grossest(?) Christmas decoration. A plastic big wheel with plastic passengers that plugs in and turns slowly, while multi-coloured epilepsy-inducing lights flash on and off. Even I'd vetoed the blooming thing, but he snapped it up half-price (who'd have guessed?) on Christmas Eve and the grandkids love it.

Mind you, I did have to stop myself buying a Christmas train complete with track the other day - I just had a sudden vision of it chugging round the Christmas table, bread sauce, cranberry jelly and stuffings in its carriages. I sometimes think being a Nanna has sent me slightly crazy.

Oh dear Shanma don't come near my house at Christmas then. I have bought myself a wonderfully tacky jumper with flashing lights (will probably drive everyone mad) and have bought a more restrained one for my sister (she doesn't know yet). DH and DS have t-shirts. DH and I agreed - if not worn, no dinner!
This is a first for me, I don't normally do this.

kitty it was from Tesco. I get too hot to wear a sweater while cooking. My family are coming for the first time in about 30 years, so I want us to start with a laugh!

I have some light up Christmas tree earrings, Katek. I think I've only worn them once. I can never find them at Christmas, but they always seem to turn up somewhere daft sometime in Spring. Then I put them in the safe place again...

I have a nice navy t shirt with a robin on the front but DH actually has a light up jumper! It's mid blue with a Christmas tree and the tree lights flash! He loves all the tacky stuff like musical socks, ties etc.

I've got a couple that are quite tasteful - a red and cream one with a snowflake pattern in the knit, and a lovely soft pale green one with tiny sprigs of berried holly sewn in.

They're a bit too subtle actually. This year I intend to buy a cheap, nasty and gross one that makes the DGSs laugh
