Tell me something

I seem to spend half my life searching for my glasses. Have you ever searched for something then later find it in the first place you looked? I swear there must be a mischievous goblin who removes things then places them back exactly where they were! We also have a sock goblin who only takes 1 of a pair but he never returns them.

I solved the house key problem by attaching it to my handbag with a spiral, stretchy cord (bought cheaply online).

Glasses: solve that by buying these upright glass cases, one each for husband and me, upstairs and downstairs, and the glasses always go back there, so we are stressfree regarding glasses now!
Cheque book, and mobiles, we have a tray on a cupboard just inside the kitchen door
upstairs, we have a small tray on the window ledge in the landing hall, for bits and bobs like wallets
when I'm in the house, I leave my keys on the inside of the front door.
When my husband is in, I have a coffee stand, just inside the kitchen door, i.e., out of sight of the letterbox, and all the keys go on that
When I'm out of the house. My handbag has a key lead which I attach the keys to
we are not saints!
I have attention deficit disorder (ADD) and need to make sure that there is a fixed place for these items, it works most of the time ; )

My mobile phone when it's ringing. It's always in my (quite small) handbag but always slips to the bottom, under purse, diary, cotton carrier bag etc. By the time I put my hand on it, the ringing has usually stopped.

No not really - I may be boring but everything has its place. Keys all live on a rack; credit cards, cash & driving licence are in my purse which lives in my bag which lives in the cupboard; glasses are in a case on the front room table; mobile on bedside table if upstairs - on worktop if downstairs.; loads of pens in a cup in the kitchen. I'm otherwise not a tidy, houseproud but I do like to know where things are!

yogagran sometimes I forget what I have forgotten...and go into a rom in the house, forgetting why I went in there, only to remember an hour later.

The instruction booklet for my newish printer, I need to 'aline the print heads after putting in new inks'. Why the booklet is not with all the other instruction manuals, including ones from 20 years agoI have now idea. Ah well back to the hunt.

Can never find a tape measure when I want one

Bought some chocolates as Christmas gifts - sure I put them in drawer with Christmas cards..... no not there, now where else would I have put them?

I'm pretty good with glasses & keys, purse & cards live in handbag.

Lost my Christmas earrings (fragile, look like baubles so carefully wrapped) after a home move - found them when I was sorting a box of "odds & ends" in Spring. I know where they are now & will wear them this Christmas

felice if you can't find it you should be able to align it from your computer. Try to print something and it will tell you that you need to align and give you a link.

The phones...what sadist invented the cordless telephone? I never find it before the ansaphone clicks in and the caller rings off.
Anything I need in a hurry but I usually find what I needed in a hurry the time before.
barbaralynne, I know exactly what you mean, it drives my family mad when I get half way through a sentence and...

I often awake with a start at silly a.m. with a clear picture of where the 'safe place' was that I put the missing article. I then have to get up and retrieve before I resume sleep and forget again (amazing things our brains - I sometimes think we try too hard to remember and that when we sleep they re-boot). Lucky you Grannypiper, my hair has thinned too much to lose even a hairgrip.

Everything is in my bag - I think! I put the keys in, the purse in, the phone in, the lipstick in. But how is it that when I look for anything it has migrated to a parallel universe of handbagdom?

Lip balms , the idea as to have one in each bag and coat pocket, but they're never there!! I'm solely in charge of keeping the manufacturers in the black lol

My short-term memory. I've been suffering from maternal amnesia since my eldest was born (he's now 38). I regularly go upstairs then can't remember why; I think I need to replace the toilet rolls, then think the same next time - and the next.

A receipt for something that I need to return. I always keep receipts for important purchases,i.e. clothes and shoes,items for the house,electrical goods etc. But I can guarantee,that if I ever have a reason to return an item,without fail,I can never find the damn receipt. I have lost count of the number of times this has happened to me over the years. I can find every other receipt in creation,just not the one I need. It has been infuriating at times,like the instance a few years ago,when a mobile phone I had bought started acting up. Could I find the receipt? Could I heck. Searched everywhere for it. Gave up in the end. Miraculously,the phone righted itself a a few days later. But what really pissed me off,was that a few months later when I wasn't even looking for that receipt but another one,there it was,in the place that I was sure I had put it all along.

GLASSES!!!...BOUGHT TWO CHAINS/DECORATIVE NECKLACES TO ATTACH TO GLASSES THINKING IT WOULD ENCOURAGE ME TO USE THEM...THING IS ...CAN'T FIND WHERE I PLACED THEM.....

DH's glasses!
The eternal cry of "Have you seen my specs?" almost drives me insane. I bought him a wooden 'nose' on which to park them for the night but really wish I had bought at least another one so aim to get some more especially in the light of recent events.
He recently lost them for five days and five nights during which he searched every room and cupboard in the house, the garden shed and the garage and workshop including both big freezers. They had fallen off his nose when he was building the bonfire for bonfire night and had slipped down between a wall and a fence, miraculously there was not a scratch on them! How come he didn't notice at the time since he needs them to see?!

Before we went abroad last year, my DH put bank cards not needed in a 'safe place', this included the card reader, National Trust membership card, bus pass, B&Q Diamond club card and so on.... It took him 3 months to find them, he'd replaced most of them by the time he came across them. I decided enough was enough - we had a safe installed. Now we have a safe place ... just not for the safe keys. Incidentally, I also have a glasses case that can effectively burrow deep into my handbags, under the bed, below car seats. I swear I can sometimes see it move out of the corner of my eye.

I usually know where things are. DH loses his keys, and then takes mine if I don't keep an eye on them. We once found his in the Dog's treat jar!!
