That may be worth trying shysal. Perhaps a big one in the kitchen and a couple of tea lights in the dining room.

Have you tried a chef's candle? Not 100% effective but helps a lot. Available as tea lights also.

Has anyone found an effective was to neutralise cooking smells without using an aerosol?

I usually open the back door and have an extractor hood above the hob but smells from cooking broccoli etc seem to permeate the entire house. Plus it's also getting a bit cold working in the kitchen with the back door open.
