Have you seen the M&S christmas ad ? Much nicer than JL !! really christmassy and makes you feel warm inside , especially at such an unsettled time in the world .

Yes I watched it online last night and I agree it is very good.
It is different from their previous efforts and not a celeb in sight, and there I must apologise in case Mrs C is well known as she isn't to me. A lovely ad for children.

I liked her jumper and it was good advertising for her red dress and coat (oh and the trainers) but the JL one made me feel warm inside whereas the M&S ad was a bit too Helen Mirren/Hermione Norris/Emma Thompson if you know what I mean. ?

I loved the one for Aldi too.

These Christmas ads are becoming a tradition in their own right.

Janet McTeer, of course!

I think the tradition was started by Woolworths many years ago, it was always very good and seemed to start Christmas off.
I still miss Woolies.

Haven't seen the M&S ad yet but the Aldi one is lovely. Wasn't that impressed with the JL ad. As someone said on a fb thread, it would have been nicer if they had laughed at the dog bouncing and the little girl had joined him on the trampoline.

Janet McTeer! Wonderful! Eat your heart out John Lewis!

harrigran Sat 12-Nov-16 09:09:29

Yes, M&S have managed to get something right this year. I thought it was very slick, not cloyingly twee or overly PC.
I like Kevin the carrot too.

Janet McTeer v. cute boxer dog - no contest!! Dog wins every time smile ?

ninathenana Sat 12-Nov-16 09:33:48

I've just watched it on youtube, I seem to have a watery eye all of a sudden.
Wins the Christmas adds hands down in my opinion

Jalima Sat 12-Nov-16 10:05:23

but the M&S one has a naughty dog Db wink

Jalima Sat 12-Nov-16 10:06:20

are boxers cute? They usually have a long stream of slobber coming out of their mouths [yuk]

(apologies to any boxer owners on here)

I couldn't manage the whole John Lewis advert. Too sickly.

I love the takeoff of it on FB

jordana Sat 12-Nov-16 12:00:36

I don't like the marks advert - I prefer aldi and john lewis . Loved the spoof ones of jl and the other with trump etc

Beammeupscottie Sat 12-Nov-16 12:35:33

M&S trying to do trendy again. No kid wants trainers from Marks! More emphasis on the food side would be a better advert. This is not going to up their fashion sales. Really disliked, sorry to say and will get the whizz through.

WSell, that one had had its chops wiped. Thak the Lord. (to jalima)

Candlefran Sat 12-Nov-16 13:06:00

Shall I do that post again? (new keyboard)

Well, that one (the dog) had had its chops wiped jalima. smile

Candlefran Sat 12-Nov-16 13:08:00

The spoof one is very good. I don't think the M and S hits the spot. No soul. (wonder why that would be)

BlueBelle Sat 12-Nov-16 15:31:42

Just watched the M and S one and don't like it at all boring and sickly

Ana Sat 12-Nov-16 15:44:40

And awfully long...

I know there's probably a short version, but I found it rather tedious. And Mother and Father Christmas were just too young!

Jalima Sat 12-Nov-16 17:13:16

DD had a boxer cross, delightful dog but prone to drooling especially if he smelt food!

Candlefran Sun 13-Nov-16 12:40:10

I do that. #soddingdiet
