Snow - love it or hate it?

I love snow. When I had just given birth to my daughter the midwife looked out the window and said "it's snowing". Somehow these two things will always be connected.

I loathe snow we moved from Wensleydale to the East Midlands because I couldn't stand snow and the isolation it brings to rural areas.

Here it is.

At our last house, we lived next to a park, one side of which was a long steep slope. A decent fall of snow would bring out large numbers of skiers and snowboarders and the Parks Department would install a ski pulley for their use. We poor sledge users would have to struggle back up without help, usually pulling three year old GS! He didn't see why, having gone down on the sledge, he shouldn't come back up on it!!

My idea of sheer hell would be to have a holiday where it was below 20C, snowing and frosty. I much prefer sunshine and warmth. At least now that I am retired I have more choice re the days that I can stay indoors if the weather is inclement.

I may be a lone voice in hating it!! Fortunately here in the South West we don't get heavy snow often but when we did a few years ago I couldn't get my car out of the garage for 10 days! (The garage is at the bottom of a long steep drive). The only good thing about it is that I live next to a field and sometimes get caught up in a snowball fight with the local children!

Love it, love it, love it. We have had winter holidays in Iceland and travelling up the Norwegian coast recently and have just booked to do the Glacier Express in mid-February.

I quite like when it first falls, all looks clean, and it gives a nice sort of light into the house. My Neighbour always makes , not a snowman, but a snow German Shepherd on her lawn, last time we had significant snow she also did a cat sitting on one of her shrubs, it froze alot so they stayed there for ages, and very good they were too .

I used to hate the snow when I was working outside the house, and when DH worked he had to stop in snow so we lost money as he was self employed. I work from home now and he doesn't work at all due to ill health, so I don't need to worry about the roads.

I don't mind walking in snow at all, I quite like it, until it becomes slushy as that can be very slippery.

Where are you granjura? Is it the lovely dry snow we got one year we were on holiday in Austria? Maybe you are in Canada or norway?

I love it, but we don't get snow very often here sadly.

I like to watch it falling in big fat feathery flakes - as long as I'm watching through a window.

Love it when it first falls, always go for a walk. Thoroughly dislike it when it makes travel dangerous, worry about the family and suspect we wouldn't be able to get the car out here which would be a real disadvantage.

I live by the sea and we rarely get snow here (apart from the big freeze in 2010!) but I do love to watch it fall. A few years ago we went to Norway inside the Arctic Circle. And did it snow! It was a whiteout for a few days, -20C, but absolutely stunning. Beautiful dry snow with huge snowflakes. I was like a child gambolling about.

I love it when its falling and love to walk in it. I'm glad I don't have to drive in it or even go out if I don't want to. I usually get wrapped up in big coat, hat, gloves, scarf, boots and take a long walk everything is just quiet and muffled its lovely. I realise for some its a no go though.

I would love it if I didn't have to get to work, I get so anxious about driving in snow.

I like it, but it sends me into paroxysms of anxiety about the people who have to move about in it. We are expecting a whole heap of the stuff tonight if the weather forecasters are to be believed. I hope they're wrong!

I love it too but as I live on a steep hill, I don't go out into it if I can help it, other than to throw snowballs at my grandchildren in the garden!

It needs to snow Christmas Eve and last until New Year's Day thereafter, a heatwave will set in for the rest of the year. Bliss!

Love to see it. Just wish it would fall at a convenient time so the children could play in it then thaw overnight so that the roads and pavements are safe. I lived in rural Derbyshire during the winter of 62/63. Remember that as being wonderful!

I love the snow, everthing is so clean looking and magical when it first falls.

I used to quite like it but I now find it tiresome after the first excitement. I broke my leg in two places (not in the snow!) three years ago and I'm terrified I'll fall again so it makes me nervous to go out in it.
