Years or decades, you name three events that occurred In a particular year or decade, and the correct year or decade gets a point.

Local history
Name a tool, a place and an item of clothing all beginning with a certain letter of the alphabet the team that picks the ones others don't get receive a point for each so potential 3 points.

All the answers for that round are a number or a colour.

Completing well know (or not so well known!) quotations.

Or you give the quote and ask who said it.

I like the "on this day in history........."

Also when DH and I used to go to a quiz I always enjoyed a round called "in the news" which was questions about what had been in the news that week. Our quiz master would take a selection of news papers and TV news programs and the questions could be something like..... The Daily Mail ran a story this week on XYZ, who or what was the ABC ? or The Guardian printed a photograph this week showing...... you get the idea. Has to be a wide range of newspapers and TV news in order to be fair to everyone, not just the ones you read/watch.

People in the public eye, eg name the opposition Home Sec or President of the EC etc.

Questions on famous animals (from RL or fiction) such as Laika the first dog in space, Dolly the sheep, Cher Ami the pigeon, Mr Ed, Eddie the dog from Frasier, Bobby the cat from Coronation Street (Minnie Caldwell's) Nana from Peter Pan. Skipper from the Secret 7, Sefton the horse that only just survived the Hyde Park Bombing, horses belonging to famous people such as Marengo and Copenhagen, Bucephalus, Pegasus, and so on.....

I'm sure you could come up with a huge variety ranging from easy to difficult .
