That was a hard three weeks

Although I'm a fairly regular poster on MN, I lurked for quite a while here before I joined about three weeks ago. In that time I've been called a precious snowflake; accused of having a fit of the vapours ; being incredibly snobby, being satisfied to have something at which to take offence, creating a storm in a teacup, sniping, jumping in on one side or the other straightaway ( as a new poster) but you know the one thing that has really cut me to the quick was being accused of only knowing about 'six quid bottles ( of wine ) from the supermarket'. Anyway, will be having a break now for a few days and when I come back, I promise to behave better and to have drunk some more expensive wine

Jalima who is your gorgeous furry friend?
Not one of ours Charleygirl, but a picture from the internet - very cute!!
Although she is very similar to one belonging to the DGD!

Ditto gillybob , we are all entitled to our views whether or not they are in agreement with the original poster. Please don't let's have a boring GN , it's difficult sometimes when we have personal stuff going on not to feel hurt. Most posters do not intend things to be personal.

Take no notice Anya just have a break, that's what I did, no need to leave. It would be boring on here if everyone agreed with everyone else all the time. Why let a couple of nasty posts force you to leave.

Anya Mon 31-Oct-16 16:43:03

Thank you DB for your less than kind words. At least we all now know exactly where we stand.

I fully did intend to leave but two things have made me change my mind. Firstly the absolutely overwhelming support and understanding in PMs and on this thread. And secondly one particular phrase that GNHQ used in my correspondence with them. That really hit home and made me think.

I'm not going to go OTT and make any more of this incident - I think it has actually backfired on the perpetrators. Just so they know I will NOT be bullied off this site.

Thank you all.

Maggiemaybe Mon 31-Oct-16 17:15:17

I'm very pleased to hear it, Anya, and I'm sure you've made the right decision. I'm not one for PMs, but GN would have been the poorer if you'd left.

Ana Mon 31-Oct-16 17:17:19

Yes indeed. Glad you've changed your mind Anya thlsmile

kittylester Mon 31-Oct-16 17:22:44

I'm glad you've changed your mind too, Anya. sunshine

I read DB's post as being directed at Casawan, Rigby, etc not you.

gillybob Mon 31-Oct-16 17:23:20

So glad to hear that Anya I look forward to many, happy disagreements and hopefully a few agreements too, in the future. smile

Jalima Mon 31-Oct-16 17:26:32

Well, I didn't think it was directed at you either Anya sunshine

Please all be kind, I didn't mean any of this to blow up, it's just a storm in a £6 bottle of wine!

There must be something in the air tonight, all those forces unleashed.
It's All Saints Day tomorrow smile

Maggiemaybe Mon 31-Oct-16 17:35:45

And we shall all revert to our usual saintly selves, Jalima. grin

DaphneBroon Mon 31-Oct-16 17:41:10

Thank you DB for your less than kind words. At least we all now know exactly where we stand

WHAT les than kind words??
I was following on from and referring to what Ana and Jalima said about a certain newcomer and "migrants" from MN.
Do they get accused of "less than kind words"too?
???
Oh no, it must just be me then
confused

DaphneBroon Mon 31-Oct-16 17:43:26

Thank, you kittylester and jalima for taking my post at FACE VALUE and not looking for insults where there were none.
Now who is being unfairly picked on?
angry

Jalima Mon 31-Oct-16 17:47:35

And we shall all revert to our usual saintly selves, Jalima

Saintly little grey-haired old ladies sitting clacking our knitting needles or doing our embroidery .....

janeainsworth Mon 31-Oct-16 18:06:00

I too assumed db referred to casawan and rigby. confused

Ana Mon 31-Oct-16 18:08:34

Less of the 'grey-haired' thank you, Jalima! wink

Jalima Mon 31-Oct-16 18:10:49

Mine is still brown Ana (not dyed) grin

I do hope we can return to calmer waters and put Winegate behind us.

Galen Mon 31-Oct-16 18:43:41

I shop in Waitrose. Would prefer M&S but they don't deliver.
I shop at house of Fraser, John Lewis and M&S ( on line)
I live in the SW
I have a cleaner and a Gardner
I'm about to open a bottle of Chateau Neuf du Pape
I like cruising and pearls

Galen Mon 31-Oct-16 18:46:19

Ps. I like GN but I don't like the nastiness that seems rife recently

Anya Mon 31-Oct-16 18:56:22

Does it matter who you directed your 'less than kind words' at DB? You clearly meant to insult someone.

Let's stop all of this as the eyes of GN is on both of us.

Anya Mon 31-Oct-16 18:57:26

Or should it be 'are'?

janeainsworth Mon 31-Oct-16 19:32:05

Anya Let's stop all of this as the eyes of GN is on both of us.

Perhaps you could take your own advice, as you said you would earlier in the thread. sad

Ceesnan Mon 31-Oct-16 19:52:35

Well Rigby46 said on her post that she was going away for a few days, but intended to return, and I'm fairly sure that Casawan was posting earlier today, so does "I came, I stirred, I went away again" really apply to them? Is it possibly the sort of comment that puts new members off? Just wondering.....

Anya Mon 31-Oct-16 19:54:03

FGS isn't that what I'm just doing?

Am I not the one who's just said 'let us stop'? Why are you doing this? What have I ever done to you that you should take this stance?

Anya Mon 31-Oct-16 19:55:04

That was to Jane

Elegran Mon 31-Oct-16 20:06:23

The Tremoloes had the right idea. Why not copy them.
