Lovely picture of you two ladies. Glad you had a good day. What gorgeous pictures too. Love the colours, particularly the bridge and the mountain reflected in the water.

soop Thu 24-Nov-16 18:27:42

Love to you all. smile moon

soop Thu 24-Nov-16 18:24:10

Tomorrow, first thing after breakfast, I shall read through all your latest news. Just popped in for a quick hello. The day was happy in every sense. MacS's results remain pretty much unchanged. A great relief. Bags and I chuntered non stop. We agreed that you lot really are the tops. So there!

I'm sharing a few pics. I particularly like the one of bags and me. There may be others to follow when I spend more time with you tomorrow.

(((hugs)))

Lovely chatty time with soop. The fog on the way was thick but people seemed to be taking care. The way back was pretty clear. I stopped to do a bit of grocery shopping (and watch the sunset from the shop car park) take the car through a wash, and wait for Minibags who has exams next week so is doing extra after school supported study (i.e. with teachers present to help out).

MacSporran took a few photos which will appear in due course no doubt ?‍♂️

oldgoat Thu 24-Nov-16 09:48:25

Morning everyone.
Just popping into the kitchen to catch up on all the news. Sorry to hear that the surgeons aren't able to fix your undercarriage problem soop. It's a pity it has taken them so long to come to this conclusion.
Hope you have a great day out with bags and both your journeys aren't too difficult. That's the downside of living somewhere beautiful but remote I guess, but even we had snow in Yorkshire last week and my heart was in my mouth as OH drove us over the moors above Harrogate. I am a back seat driver and really struggle to muffle my gasps of horror. In fact, I am banned from speaking on the car because OH says I distract him.

kitty OH retired about three years before me and used to have my dinner ready when I arrived home , but he had been totally absorbed in his work and didn't really have any hobbies of his own. Consequently, we do tend to do most things together and sometimes I long for a bit of personal space. I feel awful saying this, knowing that people, like my DSis. who has recently lost her lovely husband, would give anything to have their partner still around.

NanaandGrampy Thu 24-Nov-16 09:17:06

Morning all !!

I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend soop I hope all goes well at the funeral and you can celebrate his life for some comfort.

You're right Daphne we may not be moving any time soon but that means I can make the most of seeing the little ones regularly. Although having spent a few hours in Coopers company last night as he coughed , sneezed and was generally germy ...I might be sorry for that smile

How was the meal Kitty ? I hope you were able to celebrate in style.

Safe journey Bags and hope you and soop have a great catch up .

Grampy is off out to meet up with old work colleagues this morning and would it be wrong of me to say I'm looking forward to a few hours home alone [laugh]

He worked shifts all his life so I had many days( or nights) where I was home alone and I quite miss that . I seem to be always marching to his drum ( or body clock ) and find myself eating when I'm not hungry because he is, or getting up because he's awake etc.

Anyway, I'm off to lock the door after him ..... it will be touch and go whether I let him back in again!!

cornergran Thu 24-Nov-16 08:31:20

Safe trip bags. I know what you mean. Had a head on crash (not our fault) years back now and I still get tense on the same type (narrow, twisty with a drop to one side) road. Think I would take the safer option. Wishing you and soop an enjoyable and safe meet up.

DaphneBroon Thu 24-Nov-16 08:18:16

Take care thatbags and soop and macsporran - wishing you all safe journeys! Down here in the "soft Sooth" it is easy to forget what wintry conditions can really be like. ☃️☃️☃️

thatbags Thu 24-Nov-16 07:44:18

Really looking forward to seeing soop this morning ???

Slightly worried about the road over the hills — eek, eek! — but MrBags is working at home today so will help me get the rattletrap down the home hill if necessary. Totalling our car six and a half years ago because of ice still comes back to haunt me when we have freezing weather.

Maybe I'll take the low road.... ?❄️

kittylester Thu 24-Nov-16 07:21:40

soop, I have just caught up with your sad news. As Lona said to die at home is the best way when the time comes. flowers

By the time you read this you will have had your meetup with bags which I'm sure will have been jolly and will have lifted your spirits.

Lona, I hope so too! It would drive me mad to be joined at the hip much as I love him!

DD3'S father in law is on life support now but there is still a chance he will recover - it's the uncertainty that is so wearing for his family.

nandg - that sounds like a good plan.

On the bright side - we are going out for a meal tonight to mark the change in our lives. wine

soop Wed 23-Nov-16 16:44:35

Thank you for your kind messages. We've also the elderly friend's funeral to attend in the village on Saturday. Mary, the lady who has lived in the village forever, was at another funeral recently. I may have told you that the undertaker greeted her with...Hello, Mrs P. Haven't seen much of you lately. She replied, Good! she was so frail but determined to soldier on until the end. Flatly refused to go into a hospice. Luckily, she had plenty of local support.

There was a beautiful sunset. I missed it. Hair washing takes an age these days.

We have a very early start tomorrow. It's possible that we'll be home fairly late. We shall need to drop into the supermarket on our way home. No usual Friday trip into Campbeltown. I shall pop into the kitchen Friday morning before we leave for the crematorium. Our pal will be driving.

I wish you all a pleasant evening and trust that you will remain snug. It promises to be a very hard frost (for us) tonight.

Love and tender hugs for all our Granspals.

smile moon

callgirl1 Wed 23-Nov-16 16:12:32

Soop, so sorry about the death of your friend.

Lona Wed 23-Nov-16 16:09:33

soop I'm sorry to hear that your friend has died, but peacefully at home must be as good as it gets flowers
Hope you and bags have your usual jolly meet up, I'm really looking forward to seeing Bellasnana in a couple of weeks.
Nellie those boys are adorably mischievous looking grin
kitty here's hoping your dh doesn't become one of those clingy men who won't let you go shopping on your own anymore! wink I can imagine how ratty that would make me!

cornergran Wed 23-Nov-16 15:34:43

Not surprised you are tired, soop, so sorry for the loss of you friend, thinking of you.

The house selling process has to be one of the most frustrating and illogical there is, n&g, can understand the desire to retreat from the market.

If you could send some of your philosophical mood this way I would appreciate it, daphne, the smallest thing is hugely irritating at the moment. If it wasn't a distant memory I would say it was PMT! grin. Will summon up some patience from somewhere for grandparent duties later.

I can be really, really positive about the weather, it isn't raining. Woohoo smile sunshine.

soop Wed 23-Nov-16 14:37:52

Nellie I apologise. I've just returned home from a morning's ironing and I'm a tad tired.

soop Wed 23-Nov-16 14:36:48

Oh, Mellie Those dear boys have captured my heart. They look adorable in their bee outfits.

DaphneB I cannot tell you how much better I feel knowing that the drop bot saga has reached a conclusion.

NanaandGrampy We've friends in the village who have changed house agents twice. No interest is shown in their beautiful home. I sympathise with you. Your plan sounds sensible.

Our friend has died. It was expected. He died, as he'd wished, peacefully at home. The cremation will take place in Glasgow on Friday afternoon. We shall travel to the crematorium with two other close friends.

Charleyg Enjoy your meeting with Granspals. I shall be with bags tomorrow morning in Glasgow.

DaphneBroon Wed 23-Nov-16 09:37:28

DGCs not DGS, oh heck , grand kids!!

DaphneBroon Wed 23-Nov-16 09:36:45

How frustrating for you N&G, but I hope the consolation of being close to,the DGS more than makes up for any disappointment about moving at present. And hey, you can relax and leave the odd coffee cup around?
Life is full of disappointments it seems, but sometimes things may be , if not better at least not worser , if left alone. Thinking of Soop when I write that. The frustration of cancelled appointments and travelling to others takes its toll and is no good to anybody's health. We can waste expend a lot of energy on these buggerations, energy perhaps best conserved for what we can do. We all know that "serenity" prayer
In that contemplative not to say philosophical mood (?) I will wish you all a pleasant day and have myself another brew

NanaandGrampy Wed 23-Nov-16 08:51:42

Good Morning All.

Nellie I loved both pictures...how cute are they?

soop not the outcome you wanted but hopefully now you can just get on with living without the huge strain of appointments and cancelled appointed etc. A big hug coming your way ! PS I love the charming portrait .

Kitty I think shopping is the way forward. It takes a while I think to settle into retirement but as it comes to us all - we just have to find a way to make it work. I'm sure once the actual day has passed your DH will find his place again.

The house sale is not moving at all...we had a flurry of viewers but no offers. Dropped the price for the last time and if it doesn't sell by the end of January we shall take it off the market and leave it a year before trying again. We're still being as tidy as we can but also living ...so I'm afraid anyone who comes unexpectedly might find clothes on the airer SHOCK HORROR !!! smile

Enjoy your coffee morning Charlie I wish I lived nearer by you are as far away from me round the M25 as you can get smile

Crafting morning for me - and then we are taking the 2 boys and their Mummy to the restaurant at the gym for dinner. We got a voucher as a thank you for our complaint when the boiler went down so we intend to go and make full use of it !!

Charleygirl Wed 23-Nov-16 08:32:37

Nellie what a lovely pair of little scamps! I thought that the little bee was older so I am not surprised that he was unsure of what was going on, or that was how it looked. They are delightful.

I am meeting two GNs for coffee this am- we have been meeting for over 2 years now.

Before that I must get this evening's food sorted in my slow cooker.

cornergran Wed 23-Nov-16 07:39:18

When the going gets tough kitty, what else is there to do? smile. It's bound to be an unsettling time for both. It's hard to see someone we care about stressed and not be able to help, suspect time will sort it. Good luck to you both.

I'm joining you at the shops this morning as a distraction from worrying about my journey on almost flooded roads to pick up the children from swimming this evening. Logic tells me if they get there earlier in the evening I can get there later. Daft or what?

Lovely little boys, nellie, joyous smiles.

kittylester Wed 23-Nov-16 07:21:45

Morning all.

What lovely boys, Nellie! I bet they bring lots of sunshine to your life.

Soop, I bet you are releived to have an end to the 'faffing' about with your nether regions! A magic wand would be handy really wouldn't it. I love the painting of the little girl.

Ann, the news about you osteoporosis is good - keep taking the tablets! grin

I'm not keen on Bailey's either number especially first thing in the morning! I hope you are feeling brighter today. (((Hugs)))

I'm feeling a bit unsettled as tomorrow is DH'S last day of actual hands on work. He is quite stressed and I can't quite work out what to do to help. I think I'll go shopping! grin

I'm wondering how the house selling is going nandg? Are you still having to keep tidy?

Bellanonna Wed 23-Nov-16 01:07:15

soop your Kintyre sunsets are always wonderful but the latest one is amazing. Such a rich splash of colour. I'm envious.
At least you know where you are now, op-wise, and given possible risks you are probably better off coping. Hope the coping goes ok.
ann all the best to you, too. I've started back on Glucosamine and am just trying to get it in liquid form as the tablets are enormous. It really helped before.
nellie those smiles are heart-warming?

Nelliemoser Tue 22-Nov-16 23:28:15

charleygirl His big bee keeper hat was covering him up. Both boys are quite small for their age.
Ok just this once a picture of the pair of them about a year ago.
Big curly haired boy is now four. Little (now straight haired boy)is now 19mnths.

Charleygirl Tue 22-Nov-16 21:18:56

Nellie the expression on the little bee's face made me laugh,
his keeper's face is shaded. They are gorgeous.

soop I am sure that you are now pleased that you sent "the letter" having received a positive reply.

Looking at Grace, I think that she is also in need of a tartan rug as she does not have a lot of flesh on her body. Thanks for sending the photo Daphne.

We have been fortunate not having any flooding issues here, it has been horrendous in other parts of the country.

ann that is a relief- there is always something is there not?

N&G how could you possibly mention that word "sue"? She has been loved and cared for so well for 9 out of the 11 years of her life. She had 2 homes apparently during her first 2 years and given the names Caroline and Connie, neither of which I liked. She is now resting on my bed hoping that I will join her soon. I must have my annual shower first.
