Crispy, cold morning here . The one downside is when Sam needs to out, Grampy has to take him so 8am saw Grampy outside in his slippers, shorts ( it's warm indoors) - and his huge fur lined winter coat !! Good job there was no one about .

I used to hate taking my car to the garage Lona I always felt on the back foot. I took Jackson in with me for a recent oil change and had to chuckle when he insisted on overseeing the finished work . The mechanic looked totally bemused as Jackson opened the bonnet and asked to be lifted up to see the engine properly!!

I'd take his word over the mechanics any day !!

Excuse me N&G, Sam is not lazy, he is relaxing.

He's so relaxed Charlie he's snoring ! Lol

Surely he is also allowed to enjoy his holiday? If you are not careful I will be dog napping and Sam can relax as much as he wants to here. He is a bit large for the cat flap. Tara would not like him but there again she is hardly here. No doubt they would be fighting for a place on my bed. I will wait until Sam has had his break as Norfolk is a step too far.

The thing is Charlie he'd go with you willingly .

Yesterday , up at the retreat he moved in with a family of two small girls as they were happy to share their biscuits with him. At one stage all 3 were under a table concocting a kidnap plan .

That dog will go anywhere for a kind word and a biscuit and a promised space on your bed would seal the deal.

BUT I wish I could post a video ...we are thinking of renaming him Harley his snoring is so loud !!

Oh dear, that is a bit worrying if he will go off with anybody who is remotely kind to him. That breed is so greedy, that is half of his problem.

I had problems sleeping last night because Tara refused to move and she was encroaching on my side of the bed. She is a small cat so heaven knows what it would be like with a dog of Sam's size. How old is he?

DB, your poem encapsulates all my feelings about recent events on GN. Thank you for saying it more eloquently than I could.

Sam is 3 and fully grown now Charlie and weighs about 18kgs. That's his top weight and we do keep a check on him as you rightly say , he is ruled by his tummy.

I have taught him a number of tricks including sit, down, play dead, beg, turn round and give a paw ( chosen by me(). I thought he was quite smart until I realised that without a treat in my hand sit was the best I could hope for !!

He would certainly make sure he had the lions share of your bed and I do think sleep for you would be hard to come by .

Tara obeys one word and that is "no". I try not to use it too often but eg I do not want her jumping on to my mantelpiece because she has left scratch marks when she attempted to claw her way down.

Luckily Tara unlike other cats I have had is not ruled by her tum but she is very wilful and wants her own way each time.

Keep an eye open because I had my fuel allowance paid 2 days ago, just in case you have been excluded from their list. The weather is so cold I will be expecting £200 every 6 months- I know, fat chance.

Sam has obviously had his done and I remember well the 14 days he had to wear the ' cone of shame' ! He managed to misjudge every opening and exit and even had a spectacular fall down the stairs . I hope Oscar is more sensible.

Sam has obviously not been brought up properly, poor little chap. He does need a change of home.

Oscar's doggie cousins are coming to stay at the New Year. Just thinking it might be a good thing to reduce the amount of testosterone in the house. I will ask the vet's advice whether we should wait a while. Don't want the poor little chap to be wearing a lampshade all through Christmas though!

annsixty I'm with you all the way. Do your best to celebrate the festive season as best you can. The company of family will help to cheer you. If you must, shed tears for the right reasons.
I refuse to be bothered by disparaging comments relating to the kitchen. It is a sad reflection on those who feel the need to be disrespectful.
